EGR block off question (lack there of)
Is an EGR block off plate actually required on the intake mani if the EGR pipe is removed, but a valve is still in place? The valve is not controlled.
Since the non-controlled valve is closed, I don't see why the plate is necessary. |
I would just because they are cheap, easy, and give piece of mind that nothing is going in there. Like cast iron lockable panties :fael:

It looks prettier? I got one just to limit the clutter. You could probably make one for less than the Begi ones.

I cut mine out of some 1/8" metal with a hack saw and sealed it with permatex grey. Easy peazy.

Didn't a bunch of people say that it can/does leak?
And with how easy the blockoff plate is to make its a no-brainer |
It's not a question of if I can make one. I can. It's a question of is it really necessary. I'm still leaning towards no.
This is a n/a application -- my 01 rat that I have very little $ in. |
Weight reduction. I would do it for the piece of mind. Especially if its not a new egr valve. If it was new I wouldnt be worried about carbon being on the sealing faces and causing a leak.
