EGT aguges - still relevant?
So I've already ordered solid state boost/vac and water temp gauges from Stack and might get an analog Stack lambda if they issue a black-faced version (this would supplement my LC-1 which is driving the MS-PNP); however, I'm debating whether to say enough is enough or if it's worth getting an EGT gauge as well.
I'm considering the Westach Quad EGT as it would help isolate any lean/rich issues associated with individual injectors. http://www.ultralightnews.ca/westach...s/WES_3AQ2.jpg Am I crazed ... paranoid? If I had a built motor I wouldn't hesitate as it's cheap insurance, but with a stock 1.6 with 70k it seems a bit silly. I suppose the question is whether those of you who have EGT gauges have found them to be a useful secondary tool for tuning/diagnostics? any input is appreciated. -Zach |
i have no experience, but i understand that EGT gauges are way too slow to assist with tuning. Diagnostics on the other hand should have some merit to it.

dont crash trying to read four tiny EGT gauges.
and yes, they're relevant to know if your timing is close. |
