EGT and WBo2 bung installation

Did everyone just have a muffler shop do this work? Where'd everyone put the bungs?

Stephanie Turner/Corky Bell, if you guys see this, I sent you an email about having this done to a DP before shipping it out. Any possibility of doing something like that pre-shipping/installation

My BEGi dp came with a WBO2 bung in it with a plug incase I didn't need it.

It was however pointing down so I plugged it and had a muffler shop weld a new one on the side for better ground clearance. It was like $25.

I just took mine to work and used their welder to weld it on, that is after cutting a hole in the pipe.

On my 240sx I just took it to a muffler shop and payed the $40.

What kind of mani are you going to use?
Cast mani you can drill and tap runner #4 or the collector, stainless mani you need to drill and install a bung. #4 because on most vehicles supposedly(?) #4 runs the hottest and is just convenient being closest to the firewall. You can take the EGT after the turbo, but it's not optimal. As for the WB bung, i just took the DP out drilled a hole and welded the bung it in myself. Remember you want the bung 10* or more above horizontal. Mine is vertical.

It'll be a BEGI cast manifold. Thanks for the info CJ.

Turbored, it's an Innovate LC1 w/ the DB gauge.

You got with the Z-series autometer?

Also, even though i'm always told to mount the EGT probe in the mani, most of the probes or thermocouples themselves are so long or "deep" mounting that I wouldn't want them in my manifold. That's if it was even possible to begin with. I have seen more shallow mounting EGT probes that many use for this reason but like for the autometer kits, those probes are pretty long. Atleast they look like it in the pictures.

The muffler shop where i got my first 2.5" catback pretty much welded the bung as part of the catback labor. Neighborhood shop with nice people working there. I mounted the bung just above the second bend on my DP, about 18" from the turbo housing.

I just drilled and tapped the collector on both my stock Greddy and replacement ETD. I have the Autometer EGT kit with the standard K type probe. I was a bit worried about that placement, but when I took a look at the probe in the Greddy manifold after removing it for the ETD installation, it looked fine.

my instructions said no more than 2 feet from the manifold... mines at the end of my downpipe, it works fine.
