Electrical issue
electric windows stopped working, heater fan doesn't work, wipers don't work, anti-lock light stays on. Checked all fuses inside and under hood, all apear to be OK. tried to find answer in repair manual, nothing. frustrated

I would double check all your fuses under the dash.
the wiper fuse explains the wipers. heater fuse, the blower (push red button on it) windows would have to be power wind fuse. that or your ignition switch is bad, but then other ---- would not work. the light, well sounds like the ABS is bad. |
Thanks, I'll check it.

I dont want to start a new thread, so I will add to this one and maybe someone can help me out. I have no working gas gauge, tach, or water temp gauge. The tach and water temp work in TunerStudio. I have checked the fuses and they all look good, bought a new gauge cluster and still nothing. Is there a relay or something stupid I am missing? Ground strap between head and frame rail is there, ground wire on the PPF is there. I am just stumped... this is in a 90.

Meter fuse?
For the sake of it, I am just going to stick a new fuse in it. Just to give it a try. Will return with results.
yeah if the tach, water temp, oil pressure, and fuel guage all fail plus the airbag, seatbelt, and charge lights dont work then its the meter fuse.
Meter fuse. I had some weird issue where my meter fuse would blow once a week. I never found out the problem, but it stopped happening after a couple weeks and has been fine for over a year now.(knock on wood)
I've blown them before when doing tranny swaps with cars with shitty backup light switch connectors they were mistakenly left off when the job was done...they touch the trans and short the fuse out.
I just got home from class and haven't made it back to my shop. But in reading that, the turn signal and high beam indicator lights still work. Does that make a difference? Would the check engine light come on if I am running a MegaSquirt? All the airbag stuff has been removed, but the tach and fuel gauge were working even after removing the air bag harness and sensors. As far as the seat belt light working, I dont know, I unhooked that a long time ago. But I will try grounding that wire out to see if the indicator light comes on. Will check before work tomorrow morning if the fuse is indeed burnt out, and if I can get the seat belt indicator to illuminate.
that makes a stronger case for the meter fuse if the turn signal lights and HI beam indicator light comes on, as they get power from turn signal switch and the combo switch respectively.
Okay, so I pulled every single fuse out of the kick panel and they all look fine. Looking at the wiring diagram them black/yellow wire is the meter wire, so I will try and trace that and see if its pinched/cut off/unplugged or something. Its driving me mad. Also, could it be a grounding issue?

2 Attachment(s)
no, becuase they all ground to the same place, what you dont be seeming to getting is the 12v side of things.

Okay, so I think I am going to make sure the fuse is getting 12v and if that is, I will see if it is getting 12v to the cluster from the black/yellow wire. Do you think that is a good starting point?
Okay, so there was no power to the gauge cluster, but there was indeed power on both sides of the fuse. So I made a jumper wire to go from the black/yellow off the back of the fuse box and ran it to the plug on the back of the cluster and still no working gauges. I am confused...any ideas...

They work!

Care to explain? :makeout:
Well once I got the 12v to the cluster nothing seemed like it was working. This was also with a cold car, I started up the car and let it warm up. The temperature gauge started moving. Which it wasnt working before. And the seat belt, brake, and battery lights came on when the key first went into the "on" position. Something it wasnt doing before either. So I knew there had to be something with the signal. Well awhile back I made a switch panel to turn the igniter off from inside of the car, and I had one of the switches turned off. It was still allowing the car to run, but I believe it was turning off the tach signal. So if I had the switch on the other day when I made my 12v jumper all wouldve been good. But now I have a new cluster...which is fine by me, I can fiddle around with the old one. Damn I write too much.....
