The end of an era
Well, it's been 25 years with my '93 L.E., which I've owned since new, and over 10 years since I sent it over to FM for some tender ministrations. With a 30AE ND on order and my track-mostly MSM handling track duties I needed to make room. It was with a heavy heart that I handed the keys over to a fellow Miata enthusiast who's also a local Club member and Spec Miata racer. He'll look after it properly, drive it like it should be driven and, occasionally, even offer visitation rights. Here's a pic of the proud new owner (and son) taking possession yesterday evening:

:ohnoes: happy for your other cars though

And cool she's going to a sympathetic new owner!

The new owner sent this picture, captioned "Does this car make my butt look big?"
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...a83fb79a40.jpg I followed him home yesterday, driving his M5 filled with the removable roll bar and other bits 'n' pieces. Holy crap, is that car stupid fast! |
The repair bill climbs even faster. Replaced an engine on one. It was even the "simpler" manual trans too. Referb'd long block was $18k, labor to R&R was another $12ish I think. You experienced an amazing car the correct way, without actually owning it.
Sorry for your loss. |

Sorry, tangent related to the e60, his loss was the Miata.

I think so, but I may have been pushing the wrong button as it was just described to me rather than pointed out. I did have to paddle shift manually and the rear end would squirm mightily under power, so I suspect I was indeed in 'M' mode. Either way, I was not disappointed.

Although, having said that, I don't think I'd own an F10 either, not unless BMW provided me with a sworn affidavit stating that the entire powertrain engineering team from the E60 had been drawn and quartered. |
Yes, definitely an F10 (2012 model year, IIRC). Driving it is like the hand of god shoving you down the road. He had fitted Cup 2 tires to the thing and it still struggled for traction in lower gears. No wonder BMW has gone to AWD with the new model.

Oh yeah my bad. Those can be fun too. Dinan tune and intake and they’re something like 700ft/lbs. sorry for the thread drift.
