Everything that could cause loss of oil
So, I'm planning a cross-country road trip and I'm currently burning a quart of oil every 1,500 miles. First and foremost, is anyone else burning this much oil?
Second, I plan on replacing anything that can cause burning of oil. I'm not leaking oil when it's on or off, I've left it in my garage for a couple days, nothing on the floor. I've left it running in my garage for a couple minutes, nothing. I've revved in my garage, nothing. There's no visible smoke coming out of the exhaust, yet it's still dissapearing. Anyone got any advise? I plan on doing the PCV valve, that liquid head gasket shit just in case, but what else? |
Turbo itself eating oil at high RPM's? Could be tons of things.

Switch to Valvoline MaxLife... it helps with oil leaking from seals. No joke.
Or take the car to a spray n' wash and clean the motor/underside carefully and look for oil leaks....fix where needed. |

Oil could be dripping while the car is parked and simply getting caught somewhere until you drive. Small amounts could be burning off without much smoke. You want to replace everything that could possibly cause it to leak oil? That's cool, just pull the motor out, start at the combustion chambers and work your way outward. Or you could properly diagnose whether the oil is even coming from the front or the back of the fucking motor. Edit- It amuses me that you say it's not leaking/burning when the car is either on or off, but it is losing a quart every 1500 miles. I guess the oil fairy is just coming and siphoning it out the dipstick tube. |

You're a fucking idiot. I know it's not magically disappearing, that's why I asked. And if you would bother to use your head, you would realize that I want to replace things and give it good life because I'm going on a cross country road trip, not just because it's leaking a bit of oil.

Id start with a leakdown and compression test.

I had the same problem and only fix it when i rebuild the engine, the car don't smoke or leak but consume oil. the compresion and the power was good. I drove it like that for a year, just check your oil when you put gas.

cas o ring and cam cover gasket leak=oil fairy. oil drips of the back of the block (or side) and the is burned off by the exhaust. minimal oil burning smell, and sometimes never even leaves drops. even if you just replaced it, replace it again. use an dealer gasket and take your time, trust me.

How many miles are on it? Assuming its not leaking you could have sticking rings, and that can be fixed with some engine flush like the one I sell.
