wow that is so stupid on so many levels

Loki047 09-21-2007 12:09 PM

alot of the LS1 guys around here do it. Its about 40 bucks worth of parts... the actuator is probably 20.

Just get a Y pipe. and voila done

Ok, why?

I would think that for a street/track car this would be good mounted between the down pipe and the rest of the exhaust.

Enlighten me.

i always wondered how performance would be if you routed your wastegate to dump straight to atmosphere and kept your factory exhaust. obviously you'd spool a little slower and you'd be dead silent with no boost and super loud when you wg opened. But i wonder if that would be enough exhaust flow to not hinder performance

I bet bens talking about the bay price and kit

for half? Manuals should be 20 bucks, just a y-pipe.

Actuated ones should be 40

useless...the new Z06's have a similar exhaust i think, but its probaby because they are trying to keep it quiet for the older people, lol
but on a miata i cant possibly see it being usefull...IOW-retarded

I've pondered this before myself. I'm too lazy to get under the car and swap out exhaust parts for track days. It would be nice to be able to just flip a switch and dump the exhaust out before the cat/muffler etc.

The new vette exhaust is variable, totally different than this.

A friend of mine has a silverado that runs two of these, one for each side of the exhaust. On his setup, he has these bolted to the Y-Pipe at the headers, so he can run his relatively quite flowmasters around town, and open headers at the drag strip. He say's it was worth it. Has had them for probably 2 years and hasn't had any trouble with them.

It's kinda cool. I didn't know he had them and one day I'm talking to him while he's sitting in his truck and all of a sudden, it got REALLY LOUD. But then it went back to quite, and then back. I didn't know what the hell was going on at first.
