 Oil Psi Gauge?

 Wow what a noob thing of me to ask but, Id like to make sure I get it done right the first time. Just got a free oil psi gauge from my buddy and seeing how I dont have a 1.6 or the proper oil pressure sending unit, I plan on using this plus I have a nice dual gauge pod under my stereo.

Where are you guys getting your signal for oil psi at? A seperate fitting from an oil filter sandwich plate or T'ing into a line somewhere? Ive never hooked one up before so I am completely noob at this man.

Pics would be awesome!

EDIT!!!!!
Actually ended up getting a free set of gauges, both electric Phantom gauges. Water temp and Oil psi gauge. Bummer has no instructions obviously, can I just tap into factory sensors and oil sender to get my readings or do I need to buy an autometer sender and temp sensor?

I run a 36" feed strait from the block to a tee up by the front drivers side headlight, which goes into a tee, to a 13" feed line, to an oil pressure sender.

No pics, my camera is failboat.

Hmmm ok, see I have a 95 and use the oil feed port that the block has. I was wondering where I can tee from? My feed line runs straight into the turbo only. Where do you tap into at?

Sandwich plate. Ive also seen them t-off the feed line

Oil port on the block?? I thought that shit stopped with the 94s

Have one on my 95M. It stopped in the late 95 I believe.

Pressure sender unit port. It's the place that BEGI says to do it if you care to download a guide for reference.

Pics in a second.

EDIT:
Attachment 197087

I can't recommend any more with doing it that way. You run no risk of breaking tees, there's much less nit-picky shit about it since there's ONE fitting at the block, and everything else is right there for easy access.

EDIT2: Holy fuck I need to clean my engine bay, that shit is almost embarrassing to post.

Awesome. 95 block has this said port too correct same as yours?

In for pix.

Same question for using a water temp gauge too? lol

Yes, it's right next to the oil filter. Looking at the passenger side of the engine, it's just to the top left.

If you're going to remove it, you'll need a 22mm 6-point deep socket. Oil pressure sender remover sockets don't work, they're not the right size, and 12 point 22mm sockets don't work, since pressure sender units are "rounded" from the factory. It took me near 40 dollars and 4 15-mile trips to NAPA to figure this out. BTW if you need a 22mm deep 6-point socket, NAPA sells them individually so you don't need to buy a set.

Hahaha do check! its right behind the dipstick, like at almost the bellhousing.

Can I just basically run a feed line off the pressure sender port and tee my oil pressure line into it yet still keep the oil feed location for my turbo the way it is?

Not really sure what you're asking here.

I could technically remove it all together and just use that as my oil pressure port for my own gauge then? Thus the factory oil gauge would be pooped on.

Yeah, I did that for a while when I was running N/A with an oil pressure gauge.

What fitting size is the pressure sender port? Where to get such fittings/tee's for this project?

rider384 06-02-2010 11:03 PM

1/8" bnpt iirc

I know the fitting is on their website, as well as the other parts you might need. Good luck.

Thank you sir.
