FIA approved seat that fits in the miata..
Having come from FD's I know how hard it is to find a seat that fits in the RX7. I imagine it is the same for the Miata. I am 6 feet tall, 32'' waist.. about 165lbs. I'm looking for a well priced seat that will fit int he miata that I can use for Solo competition. Something with sliders and won't hit the tranny tunnel or the door.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? How are your thoughts on Corbeau?

I think the word is Corbeau is cheap uncomfortable ****. I have a MOMO start which many have used with the stock sliders, but I bought it from a 6 footer cause he needed something lower in his spec miata. In order to get low enough I believe you're going to have to drop the slider requirement and bolt it to the floor.

I highly suggest bolting in the driver seat. I'm guessing if you're considering a racing seat your passenger seat isn't installed, put the driver seat there while you commute, bite the 2# weight penalty of the stock seat belt. I couldn't imagine anything over an hour or two in my MOMO start, much less 5.
My start? It's great, but like I said not ideal for longer trips. Some people say they're good for that though. For a 24 yo I have a surprisingly shitty body. Bad back, bad knees, bad wrists, bad ankles, and bad neck. So surviving an hour in my race seat isn't so bad I suppose.
how is it for comfort?

The Corbeau A4 seats fit just fine, but the cloth ones I had were total garbage. They were completely sun bleached after a year, and the fabric began to tear about one month after installing them.
They also sell sliding / mounting hardware for the miata, but it positions the seat a little too close to the door on either side.

I'm pretty sure corbeau doesn't make any FIA certified seats.
I think your best inexpensive beat is a momo Start.
I've had a Cobra Imola and Racetech RT-1000(in other cars), both extremely comfortable especially the race tech. Both are a bit more expensive than the Momo start though.

Well how much do you want to spend? I have been wanting to see if the Bride Low max seats like Giac or Vios III would be low enough to use on sliders.
I think they should fit, don't know about HANS but I believe they are all FIA homologated
unfortunately they are $$$ I am sure

I've put in Momo Evolution, Sparco Sprint and Sparco Pro 2000. All of them fit. Tight to the door with the shoulder bolster but it's easy to shave a little fiberglass off the seat frame to give yourself more room.
Want a cheap FIA seat? Hit Craigslist. I bought a pair of Momo Evolutions for $200, the Sprint for $100, the pair of Pro 2000's for $500. All had sliders on them. You'll be happier with a clean used high end seat than with a cheap new one. Curly's Sprint? I think he paid around $70 and it was like new.
The Pro 2000 is a comfy seat for thin guys like you. The Momo Evo I'm using now is extremely comfortable for a little wider bod like mine.
