First install Link ECU No start...

Hey Guys,

I have done a lot of searching as well as diagnosis and I'm ready to pull my hair out. So I have come to you guys for help and advice.

Here is a little background of the project...

I bought the drive train and turbo setup out of the Yellow submarine from Wallyman. From there I located a decent shell that had a cage, coil overs, aftermarket wheels and a couple other nicknacks but had a 1.6 with a short nose crank failure.

I replaced the engine, wired everything up and went to crank over the car for the first time. Turned the key on, engine off for a few seconds and everything lit up. Went to crank it then... Click! nothing, no lights or anything.

I looked around at the wiring and figured it had something to do with the starter. After messing with that I turned it over again and this time it cranked but wouldn't start!

DIAGNOSIS: I have fuel but no spark.

Here is what I have done so far:

12 volts at the plug for the coil
tried two different coils
"room" fuse is good
12 volts at 1a on the ecu plug
checked all related fuses, they are good
checked resistance on the 80amp fuse, that is good
Plugged in the old ecu, nothing changed
Spark plugs look good, gapped at .040

Things I haven't done:

resistance on coils
resistance on plug wires

It honestly could be something really simple that I am overlooking. Do any of you have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

also getting no power to link keypad, thoughts?

Are you still using a 1.6l engine?

The lack of power to the keypad is usually the ribbon-style cord. If the theft protection was set to "on" then it won't send a spark signal if it thinks the keypad is disconnected, but the old ecu should have still worked. Do you have the ability to datalog?

Yep, I plugged in a new ribbon cord and the keypad lit up. It doesn't have the security function enabled.

I also checked to make sure I was getting an RPM signal which I was. So the CAS is good.

Next on the list are some new spark plugs and checking the Fuel Pressure. I don't have the ability to datalog yet but will shortly.
