FPR problem in a 1.8 swap.

So I swapped a '02 engine in to my 1992. I worked out everything except for the fuel system. I was intending on putting the FPR from my old 1.6 engine onto the fuel rail of the '02 engine. However I found that it just barely wouldn't fit; with clearance problems between the diaphragm of the FPR and the head; as well as the outlet for the fuel return. Has anyone ran into this problem? My ideas are to find a 94-97 FPR, and see if that fits any better, or to buy a AFPR and mount it remotely. If I go with the remote mounting, is there hardware to mount it to the '02 fuel rail? Im planning on turboing in the near future, so I need one that will be adjustable as boost rises.

I have heard that you need to turn it upside-down.

I tried this but that makes the fuel return fitting hit the cylinder head. I was thinking of cutting the fitting short, but there still really isn't any room for that. Stumped.

Paging Wagliardo, he's fairly proficient with most combinations and swaps.

FPR can be clearanced and some material from head remove. Very little from what I was shown, and not noticeable.

Awesome. Im glad to hear that someone has ran into this problem, I was picturing spending APFR type of money to get my car running. Thanks Machismo

After looking at it again with intentions on grinding both the head and the FPR down, I had some second thoughts. Unless the top of the FPR can be ground down about a 1/8 inch, as well as another 1/8 inch out of the cylinder head, I don't think It'll cut it. Anyone know about the design of the stock FPR? I might be able to shave the mounting plate of the FPR so that it will sit closer to the fuel rail. Also, Since I'm planning on going turbo in the near future, should I invest in a remote AFPR? If so, which brand have people had luck with?

I'll try to give him a call....he's not answering at the moment. I will refer him to this thread.

The help is much appreciated.

You are on the right track with the mounting plate, like I said very little clearancing up top at diaphragm and head.
