Fuel Additive for Storage

I always put an additive in before storage but generally just a random grab. Ill be putting the car away at the end of the week (probably) with a full tank of gas and just wondering what you guys recommend? Car wont be driven or started just will be sitting on jack stands as i pick away at stuff till spring comes. Thanks in advance.

I never bother puttina any in mine. It is always fine in the spring. It does tend to move the 30ft back and forth from it's spot into the garage to be worked on though.

With the current crap age stability of gas, why waste a full tank?

If I would care in a nerdy way, drain it and run with some alkylate to have stable stuff in the pump, filter, lines, injectors.

Then add fresh gas in the spring.

Filling your tank helps prevent condensation.

I don't have to store my cars for the winter so I don't have any input on what stabilizers to use.

Mine gets stored outdoors under a car cover for 3-4 months every winter . All I do is to top the tank up with Chevron 94 ( no ethanol ) and it's always good to go when the snow is gone . Last year ran longer in storage ( 7 months ) due to engine rebuild . Still no issues . Fred B

I would fill it with 100% gasoline instead of E10/E15, then there's no alcohol to lure water places you don't want it.

I always wonder the same thing, what to use. I don't want a tank full of gas that has lower octane and water in the spring and I don't want to encourage rust in the tank either. I think the no ethanol suggestion is a good one, but in my area that seems very hard to find. Maybe the best solution is moving South where there is no real winter! LOL

You don't have to move, just store your Miata where it's still summer (hot enough to make the vapor pressure of gas keep the (moist) air out). :)

i do always store on a full tank probably just pick up either HEET or Sta-bil storage.

I store my car and motorcycles with Sta-Bil and a full tank of gas every year. I don't bother trying to get ethanol-free gas except on my previous Ducati whose plastic gas tank would expand due to ethanol.

If it's any kind of a testimony, my miata sat for 1.5 years with stabil storage in it. I wanted to drain it but was too lazy so I just cranked it over finally. Started right up.

And our Volvo 240 sat for 3 years with whatever was in the tank when we parked it. Jumped it and it fired right up to drive onto a trailer.

storage

Mine is garage kept I go weeks or months at a time without driving it so I put stabil in it just because modern gas sucks so much in a short period of time.
