Fuel Line
So, yesterday I was working on the fuel system. Ended up taking a close look at the lines...and catastrophe.
When I first put together this current engine in the Miata, I bought fuel injection line - but apparently the clerk sold me carb line. It is rated for 50psi however - is this something that is an urgent replacement, or what? |
your car won't explode it but I wouldn't run it for extended periods of time.
then buy this - NAPA AUTO PARTS 225 psi fuel injection hose that's compatible with every damn fuel ever. |
I was supposed to buy that exact hose too, Soviet.
The ------- counter-boy gave me ------- carb hose instead though, same brand, same line, just ------- carb hose once I researched numbers instead of fuel injection. Thanks, I'll have it fixed today. |
I had the same experience years ago. Didn't notice it for a month or so, then when working on something else under the hood checked the fuel line and the outer rubber had all kinds of micro-cracks in it.
No leaks that were detectable, but I threw the carb ---- hose away and got the proper fuel hose and had no problems for years. |
The carb hose still has a burst rating well over what we supply. I was pushing 120psi through a length of it for over a year...
