Fuel pump fun..

So finally got a Baby free night - took the wife out (about 50mi away) and when we came back to the car - no start, was turning over and ocasionally firing but wouldn't get started (it was raining too and we were parked in the ghetto - fun). Last time I had a timing issue I installed a fuel pressure gauge in the engine bay - looked and no pressure (disconnected a fuel line, had wife turn on ignition and no fire hose so.. Well at least I know where the problem is - had the car towed home (50 miles = ouch $). Searched around and local rice shop stocks Walboro pumps (cool so may be able to drive the car next week).
They only cary the 255 and only in HP so I guess I'll be seeing how well this works - I've seen alot of notes here that the 255HP is massive overkill but its the only thing available locally and I need the car next week (running 550's anyway) soo should be good to go ? Will be puttin it in tomorrow.

the xede should be able to compenstate for any extra FP.

I'm hoping to avoid map editing again.. but easy if I'm just adjusting entire map guess we'll see. I'm a bit confused on the fuel return/returnless system - my friend's teelin me to cap off the fuel return on the pump ? - the pump has an outlet on top (near plug) and inlet at the bottom for the filter. This is for '00 and I've been told '00 is returnless - the pump is the GSS342 255HP(but model for a civic of course - but then again it's generic so doesn't matter and I don't see a return connection on it ?).

Unless your Xede reads fuel pressure before the regulator there should be no change. I put a 255hp in my '00 and there is zero change in behavior both NA with no piggybacks and boosted with piggys.

Cool - and fyi Xede doesn't read pressures (inlcuding MAP :td: at the moment - though Bell is working on a MAP Xede solution).

You won't have any problems with the 255 on an NB.

I would hope it doesn't read pressures! Being a plug-n-play at the EMU. BTW you might want to upgrade your stereo to drown out the whine from the Walbro. Still trying to get used to it.

your freind does not know what he is saying you are returnless and your pressure is regulated by an intank regulator, and it has a pulse dampner at the end of the fuel rail. Still the 255 should be just fine for you GL man.

ah good point. the '00 can rock a 255 no problems.

New pump is in all is good :bigtu: - seems a bit more rich but not a prob and now I can hear the pump on startup but not loud enough to hear over the exhaust. Thx for the info.
