Fiberglass base and CF or Kevlar over that. I suspect that weight would be the same if it was all CF or Kevlar.

The price is so nice I bought it twice :bigtu:
A local buddy of mine wanted one too, so we both got shells for race car duty (no hardware, no window). Combining them in the same package to the same address reduced the shipping; $668 each to my door. Can't beat that with a stick. |
I thought I missed it too, but I got a second chance thanks to this thread. I almost never go to CR. See post #44 FTW.

Seriously... If you want one at the group buy price, get in touch with Chaser Aero ASAP.

You (or anyone else interested) might try asking Chaser if they have some leftovers from the group buy. Maybe some people backed out when it was time to show the money. It just might work...;)

Tried to pm them...not sure it went through though as I don't see the message in my sent folder. I'm thinking I don't have pm abilities over there since my post count is non existant even though I have been a member for a long time....Could someone hook a brutha up and see if they had any deadbeat buyers, leaving room for others to jump in?

aaahah, good point sir!:fawk: Those of you who bought just the shell, how are you planning to do the window? Or did you buy their pre-cut one? I was just thinking it would be a pia with the contours... |
No window a-la Savington.
If you want one, there are some threads/websites around about making a Miata HT window from Lexan. Pretty easy from the looks of it. |

Mine has not shipped yet as far as I know.

Installing a lexan window is pretty easy. I picked up a HT shell for a song from a club member who went the CF route. It still had the front top latches but I had to buy everything else. The piece of lexan was $60 with all the other parts (seals and channels etc) running about $300 and thats with the Mazdaspeed racer discount. I will finish painting it this weekend so add about $20 more for finishing the project. It did end up costing me more that I originally thought but hardtops here run $1000 minimum.

I did order just a shell (two of them), but I did not get it yet. It should be here soon.
|
Thank you for talking me into contacting Chaser....I wouldnt have tried otherwise ;)

I got the hard top in this week. I have not completely unpacked it yet but it looks nice based on a preliminary peek. I'll get it out and installed this weekend hopefully.
One thing for sure... Chaser Aero gets an A+ for packing. Holy crap... I think I have enough boxing supplies now for a year. The top was wrapped in a very thick, multi-layer arrangement of bubble wrap, placed inside of a huge box. I'll bet the packing weighs as much as the hard top. The box takes up the entire bed of my 1/2 ton regular bed Tundra (not the short one with the crew cab). Unless UPS did something really, really stupid, like drop it out of an airplane at cruising altitude, it should be fine. |

Anyways, post up some pictures when you get a chance....Now I'll continue my wait....Waiting for the top is almost as bad as waiting for the Tuckin flares... |
They did drop it at my house, but they dropped off two of them; One of them belongs to rlogan. So one has to be transported.
