To go EWG or to not?

that is the question!

i am seriously thinking about going EWG and getting the Tial V-Band exhaust housing for my turbo! the EWG that i want to run with is the Tial MVS 38mm

and the housing for those who haven't seen it!

man these parts are teh sex!

so what do yall think! go for it or stay IWG?

EWG boost control > *

Do you track your car?

If yes, get it.

I might never track my car, but I will be getting it. The one day I do track my car, I don't want my turbo to fall off.

WonTon 04-01-2010 01:38 PM

no tracking! but high HP goals in the future!

hustler 04-01-2010 02:00 PM

get silver because the colors will turn ugly.

WonTon 04-01-2010 02:01 PM

Duly noted! thanks big daddy!

As Bond said... You will have better boost control typically with an EWG. The 38 mm should be find with your current turbocharger for street duty. What turbo were you planning to go with in the future for more power?

WonTon 04-01-2010 02:14 PM

GT3071r or a GT3076r

Savington 04-01-2010 02:15 PM

if IWG is masturbation, EWG is sex without a condom.

You should still be good with the GT30-series with the 38 mm gate without creep.

WonTon 04-01-2010 02:35 PM

thats good!

anything over a GT30 series is just overkill IMO! and running a shorty manifold and the Tial housing on one should help increase spool, among other things i can do to help it! but those goals wont happen till i get tired of the power i can make with the setup that im going for now!

Sparetire 04-01-2010 05:19 PM

The only reason I see to go IWG is cost on a low power setup. The cool thing with EWG is that you not only get better boost control, you also reduce back pressure. An external dump EWG is basically having a second exhaust system.

WonTon 04-01-2010 05:24 PM

im not rushing this build! and cost right now isnt what im worried about, and im want my new stuff to be superior to what i had before!

so far nothing but pro's, the only con seems to be cost! but that doesnt matter to me!

Sparetire 04-01-2010 05:31 PM

Then EWG it is. A 38 will be enough. I had a black cover on mine and it has stayed the original color perfectly, despite being used in a very hot engine bay with high EGTs. So silver or black is good IME.

The minute I put the EWG on my car it hit target boost quickly, every time, there is never overboost in high gears, doesn't matter if its 100* or 25* outside, it always hits its target, its better in every way. Tial stuff works right every time too, which is probably why they have more parts on real racecars than all the others combined.

Its a trip when the supra, evo, sti, and even turbo lambo guys gawk at your car just because you bought proper equipment...even MER was caught scheming at my turbo AF/Tial stuffs.

i want the  effect from high end sports car owners! :giggle:

what turbo are you running husler? what RPM are you hitting full spool?

I have the ABSURDness so you will fail in comparison, but the GT2860rs with the .86AR on a ~1.9 hits 16psi at 3200rpm, lol. On the cast manifold it made 16psi at 4400rpm. The ABSURDflow parts are the best investment I've made in this car for fun factor. The performance is the best of anything made, build quality is at the pinnacle that can only be replicated and never topped, and its proven to be reliable on my car over 8-track events, 20-hours, and not structural issues with the fabrication.

One of the MER fabricators had to grab ~5-other guys from the shop to come check it out when I showed it to him. "That's schedule-40...and he put gussets on every weld? And the downpipe? Wow, those are really nice parts. I should have done that on the Mazda/KW/Brembo turbo NC." :giggle:

i have the .64AR, im hoping with the .64AR, shorty top mount, Tial exhaust housing, 38mm EWG and the 3" V-Band turbo back will give me a quick spooling set up!

fuck the shorty crap...you want AF or ARTech to build a roller-coaster manifold. At 3200rpm I'm making 100lb/ft or more than doublethe torque compared to my buddy with an MP62...its really cool.

WonTon 04-01-2010 06:05 PM

i have been talking with ARTech over the past few days about a mani, nothing has been set in stone yet though!
