Good Radiators?

My setup is a 1.6L turbo at 18psi o-ringed head, 2.5 straight exhaust, link ecu, i think my turbo is a flyin miata t3/t4.
i had to take my large intercooler off because of overheating, i am still overheating on the track like crazy. i need advice on a radiator, is there such a thing as a triple core radiator for a miata? and if so where can i find one?

miataz 01-03-2008 10:38 PM

Godspeed rad? Are you using the stock rad right now?

Off topic question, are you running stock internals?

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 10:44 PM

yes, i have taken off the head and like i said O-ringed around the pistons to allow for more boost, i was boosting 20psi but it overheats too quickly on the track. what other internals do you mean?

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 10:45 PM

and no, i have an aftermarket radiator, not sure who makes it, but it is larger in depth then stock, i think its 1.75"

miataz 01-03-2008 10:50 PM

i was talking about, pistons, rods, ect if they were forged. What year is your car? Everyone on this fourm pretty much bought a godspeed rad. There good heres one of the various threads on them and we get them for cheap because your on the fourm ;)

you are running with NO intercooler now?

look up coolant reroute, maybe that will help with your heat issues.

and stop using tap water, use distilled water only

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 10:54 PM

1990 just like yours. ill try it, i havent changed out any internals yet, my car has 54,000 miles on it.

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 10:58 PM

of course i have an intercooler, its the one that comes stock with the fm kit, i had to duct ALL air going through the front air damn straight through the radiator(yes my intercooler is in front). I herd a few rumors about rerouting from cyl #4 there is some sort of mixing between the cold and hot coolant. i dont use tap water idiot, I RUN ON THE TRACK!!!!!!!! limerock park,CT best time 1:01.56 (amature races) full interior.

paul 01-03-2008 11:00 PM

idiot? i'm not the one who can't cool his car.

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 11:04 PM

are you one that drag raced a viper gts, 03 zo6 and a 911 turbo from 5-100mph and ended up in first? this was with 20psi, my 24x14x3 intercooler, 880cc injectors (my computer was running a little lean tho)

why would one think you may not be running an intercooler.

im cautioning you now, you are on a one way street....

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 11:07 PM

i have no idea, i just put my smaller intercooler on(much less power)

miataz 01-03-2008 11:07 PM

lol i would watch what your saying to some people 1fastmiata, you dontt want to get banned now do you?

well i can stick my head up a bulls ass to get a look at a t-bone steak but i'd rather take the butcher's word for it :p

Braineack 01-03-2008 11:09 PM

cause most of us have a few intercoolers to pick and choose from during the different seasons.

search "coolant reroute" see bellengineering.net for a solution

search "undertray" and "scooper"

search "godspeed radiator"

search "compressor heat efficiency island"

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 11:10 PM

i dont see the problem, i didnt start this, im just defending myself and my car. do you see a problem with that? Paul is the one i have beef with, hes implying to me that im an idiot

Braineack 01-03-2008 11:12 PM

strike 2. :)

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 11:12 PM

why search the last one braineack?

1fastmiata 01-03-2008 11:19 PM

can we get back to the topic...

I was at a track day and a fellow came up to me saying he sells triple core rads for miatas. is the godspeed rad better? or should i keep looking for the triple core?

Braineack 01-03-2008 11:24 PM

the godspeed radiator is huge and cheap, see our group buy.

you'll want to upgrade your fans, one for space, two to draw more CFM.

you'll want to completely enclose the radiator shroud. top, sides, and bottom.

you'll want to consider a scooper to draw in fresh air under the intercooler and directly into the radiator.

you'll want to perform a coolant reroute.

you'll want to consider an extraction hood.

you need to back up your claims of power.
