Good Read: underhood temps, airflow, etc.
I have some fairly massive heat issues when sitting in traffic after making boost runs. When my bigass fan cuts on, the hot air blasts around the edges of my headlights. Popping them up helps dramatically. So I was doing some research on google and came across this thread. Nice when somebody else does the work.

Has anybody in the Miata community done all the pressure testing and definitively come up with the best way to get air in the front and out the bottom.
I haven't had a single overheating issue, but it's about the start of the Virginia summer... so I'll be on the lookout for melting **** and knock.
My current applicable mods are:
Standard Prestone green stuff.
Dual Fan Mod
Stock plastic undertray and stock plastic front radiator funneler tunnel thing removed.
No AC condensor.
27x6x2.5" FMIC about 1" in front of radiator.
Custom sheetmetal brace for IC.
Circular hole cut in cowl near brake master cylinder (Randall style).
I haven't had a single overheating issue, but it's about the start of the Virginia summer... so I'll be on the lookout for melting **** and knock.

Good read. That pressure tool sounds pretty damn useful.
I know people love their TSI and NACA ducts (I have one now...thanks brain), but I remember someone did test the pressures and found that without an extraction hood (a la FM) that TSI and NACA ducts that were not sealed off from the engine bay (a la Begi's cold air box) increased underhood pressure and decreased radiator airflow, but it was quickly shot down by the people who owned one of these items. Nice thing is that data = fact vs. opinions of "my engine bay felt cooler."

I look forward to reading this article. Maybe I can offer some additional insight afterwards since this is basically what my group does at work. I myself am more focused on external aerodynamics, but I'll see what I can potentially add.

This info will help with the placement of the oil-cooler, as well as any venting I will be doing.
Needless to say it has been bookmarked.
(I to have the Bell scoop..... maybe a good place for a small oil-cooler ???)

the NA undertray can fit the NB with just a little bit of snipping.
I'd be very surprised if the undertray helped cooling when the vehicle is stopped. I have absolutely no coolant overheating issues when the car is moving. I made something like ten consecutive ~14psi boosted runs from 2k to redline and the coolant never rose beyond 90c... but the car was always moving.
