Default Speaker not working, new speaker not fixing problem

My drivers side door speaker hasn't worked since I got the car, so I finally decided to order up some new ones, however when I removed the old speaker and wired up the new speaker I got no sound, so thinking I put the - with the + I reversed the wiring but no luck (wires just twisted together). Figuring the previous owner must have screwed up when wiring the after market head unit, (I think it's the 2nd after market radio to be installed) but I can not remove it despite trying to follow the guide on m.net. Any ideas on how to remove a JVC KD-S790 and rewire the thing correctly? I searched.

Also, I have several of these unplugged around the car, I don't know if it's related or not. This one is under the center dash sitting to the right of the shifter:

I'm going to take a wild guess at this - you don't have power windows, and you're wondering where the hell that connector goes...

Drive up here and I'll fix your radio for you.
