Lightbulb good idea/bad idea?

Would it be stupid to put in my intercooler without the turbo on?
so it is still NA but all the plumbing is done up to the MAF..
just a thought... it is probably a stupid idea right? or would it be ok for a few months, would it be to restrictive?
I know my friend had his civic like this for a few weeks, but he had the turbo bolted on except it wasnt making any boost, then again thats a built up b16 that was making 200hp without the turbo.

I am just impatient and want to get something with my turbo done.

I don't see where it would hurt, it may just be easier to remove all the paneling invovled with mounting and intercooler. Then just mount the intercooler, without the piping.

But I don't see where it would hurt if you can mount your AFM up to it.

do you think it would kill the low end though? I am pretty sure I could get it plumbed up to the AFM that is pretty close to where it is going to be anyway...

You're asking if you should actually hook up the IC and use it?
It's not going to do anything good for power or throttle response. Now the engine has to suck air through a fairly restrictive piece of hardware rather than being forced through it under pressure with the turbo. Just a rough guess, but I'd guess you'd sacrifice about 5-8hp (quite possibly more) and have some noticeable slower throttle response. To get the same effect, just duct tape off about 90% of your air filter.

If you just wanted to mount it in place to save the hassle of doing it later, that's fine... I just mounted mine and won't be ready to install the turbo for another week or so. It's mounted in place with the inlet/outlet duct taped off so debris won't get in.

Overall, I'd say bad idea.

I figured it wouldnt be good for any power, and I doubt it would cool the air charge down enough to make a difference.
I really dont think it would be very restrictive, I guess I will just have to play with it, or wait until I get the rest of the stuff until I get my turbo.

any other thoughts?

i have mine installed. nothing is hooked up to it and it is plugged to keep stuff out of it. i did this to get it on the car and check fitment i also did this to see if it would affect the cooling of the car in the hotest part of the summer.
