Default GT3071R or GT3076R?

Which one, and why? I am leaning one way, but would like to hear what you all think.

HP target is 350+ while producing reasonable boost in the low 4k range. I use an AVC-R to manage an external wastegate to help with this.

This will be going on a built motor. Oversize valves, ported head, Wisecos, forged rods, etc etc. Turbo will be V-banded with the Tial .64 housing.

Do the .86 housing over the .64. I had the .64 and wished I had the .86. The 3071R is a great turbo and would fit well with your goal.

I'd say GT3071R, I used to have a 76 and spool took years.

Years?

what rpm did you hit peak boost in with 76 compared to the 71?
Mine spools pretty quick considering the size of the sucker. Then again I have the china 76 so the sizing is a bit different.

Are you guys sure on the .86 vs .64? My disco potato is .86, and it's a little laggy. I'm worried it'll be exacerbated with the larger turbo.

If you think a .86 potato is laggy, a 3076R will mortify you. Get the 3071 .86 or a 2871 .86.

am I the only guy who loves his .64 housing? my **** is win.

just last night braineack was saying how my car felt peppy -- like it just had a bigger motor.

my turbo is a 2876R .64 turbine

based on that, i'd go 3076 .64. the larger wheel should get you to 350 no problem and not have so much headroom that it leaves you wanting more down low.

or just be a super baller and get both housings and sell the one you dont want.

I had a built motor (1.9) with the 2871 .64, wish I had the .86, top end was choked.

Mine gets there by 4300.

Then again I don't mind a little lag.

Gives the other cars a chance

Buy my begi s5 mani, gt3071, tial gate, and begi downpipe. With a 15lb spring in my tial, I hit 10 psi at 3600rpm. Dynoed 200whp at a pissant 6lbs! Of boost without tuning timing. I will sell it to you for 25pct off new prices. The differences are nominal. You can check out my setup in person if you like since I am local...

Yah and that is why I am going to get a gt3582. More hp everywhere. That dyno story is very persuasive.

Forgive me if I'm not impressed, especially for a street car.

Plenty of love for .64 housings from the 2560R guys, plenty of love from the ~250whp guys. Not so much love from the 300whp guys.
