Help me guess my E.T.
For the Pinks All Out event I have to declare an ET when I register on Friday and it needs to be accurate so they can put me in a run group. I have added meth injection and the car will be tuned in the next day or two for that (using it as a power adder, not a safety net). Needless to say, there won't be an opportunity to make any runs between now and Friday so it's time to guess. Sitting around the 350 rwhp level I was able to run consistent 12.2 passes without launch control (I won't be using launch control for the event). So at the following power levels, what do you think I should choose as an ET?
1. 400 rwhp 2. 450 rwhp |
low 6's high 5's ;)
1. low 11's 2. mid 10's |
Trap speed??
|
.. fast? You frist time on those power levels.. 11.2? Also what tires? Get some videos, please!
|
Im on the low 11 crew...... and videos would be nice

At 350 I was able to trap between 118 and 120 depending on the density altitude. The tires are MT ET Street Radials. I'd like to be able to sit at 11.6 and be consistent all weekend so I don't have to worry about tech. Without launch control I usually pull a 2.0 60 ft time, I'll make it up on the big end hopefully.

I'd say between 11.6 and 11.75. 450whp might net you 11.4-11.6. Depends really on how well you hook up, and if you can do it more then once on the same rear-end. ;)

So far it sounds like I need to shoot for 450 to get the times I want with my current driving style. |
12.0 and 11.8. If you aren't launching harder you'll probably see the hp increase on the top end. Launching well doesn't get any easier with more power. :)

just grabs and goes? hmm.
I'm going to be the bastard child here and guess: 3m27s ET trap speed of 1mph (pushed by 2 dudes) |

Hmm...
I've gone 11.3 with 340hp and consistantly ran 11.00s with 498hp. Once I got over 400hp I did a lot of spinning in all gears. My trap speed would go as high as 135mph with my big power. ** I was running BFG Drag Radials with a KAAZ Diff. *** Also make sure you have extra Axles. Once I started spining I would brake many more axles when the car hooked. It was not uncommon to break one even in 2nd gear. My honest guess would be 11.50s-11.70s until you have launch control and everything figurd out. |
Marc,
What 60s were you pulling? Frank |
Pic something you can run consistently. In ET drags that's obvious but I had to say it anyway! Be a little conservative, easier to replicate. Of course you are the drag guy with the hot car. There's only a handful here who are any good at it. Whadda ya doing asking?
11.5's? Hope I'll get over to corksport on the 19th. It's a work day for me so I don't know. At the least I'll try to make the drags later. |

I wish I could get a 60ft time like that. Each time I try I break an axle. Going to be hitting the dyno in a few hours and see what she puts down. If I get 400 or so I will probably choose an 11.7 and if I'm over 450 I will go with 11.9. They started doing this earlier this year to make it better racing for the crowd. No more 10 second cars running with 12 second cars.
|
How is the racing set up, Bracket or Heads up? What are the break points, 11.00 to 11.99, 12.00 to 12.99 etc?
p.s. 1.78 60 foot on 185 summer tires :) |
It's heads up racing with over 450 cars. You run all out (ET used to pick run group and keep the actual runs close) for two passes. The first is from a pro tree and the second one is an arm drop pass. After that, the guys upstairs choose the group of 16 or 32 they want to be in the show. Then it goes to an elimination style tournament for those lucky few.
I can't imagine they would choose my car nor do I plan on being on TV. I planned on being here anyways, so why not make some runs and do some watching. Should be fun times. |

If you are over 450 you need to go with 11.5, not 11.9 What tires are you running? I could cut 1.6s all day long! |
Oops, I got those mixed up. 400 = 11.9 and 450 = 11.7.
I'm running Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials, 225/50r15. Going to head out to the dyno, should be back later with some actual numbers. |
