help me if you can

i was just adjusting my idle speed and i had the wire in the Diagnostics box between GND and TEn like usual.. i just read a post the other day about how the check engine light can tell you stuff by like 1 long blink and like 4 short... so i went to check it out, i don't even know if GND and TEN are the right ones but it flashed 1 long blink then 2 short then 8 short?? idk what this means if it means anything at all. i have a miata enthusiast book but it doesn't say.. thanks!

Also, check section 5:12 of your enthusiast manual.

miata-turbo08 04-29-2008 07:15 PM

yea but what would 1 long and 2 short then 8 short mean..?

miata-turbo08 04-29-2008 07:33 PM

ok figured it out i've got an error code 2, 10, and 8 the 8 and 10 are in the AFm and the 2 is in my crank angle sensor? idk what really to do? replaces these or what.. i looked in the enthusiast book and it has alot of continuity tests which i might have my father help me with... any ideas feel free to help

Honestly, that's a lot to chase down.

I'd start by disconnecting the battery for a while to clear the ECU, then drive the car and see if the faults re-occur. When I had my stock ECU, I did occasionally get seemingly random CELs that had no actual effect on anything.

ok that works..
one more thing if you look at this thread again joe. umm just randomly(usually if i turn up the boost a bit to like maybe 7 psi) in second gear around 4000rpm it kind of stutters i let my dad drive it and he said that it could be in the fueling like its not getting enough fuel that wass my idea too.. might invest in a 190hp fuel pump by walbro? thanks for you help

It's hard to say without feeling it, or seeing datalogs including WBO2. If it smooths out after 4k, then it's not the fuel pump.

This is about the region where the stock ECU goes RPM-based open-loop, if it's not already gone load-based open-loop, so it could suddenly be going over-rich or over-lean. I'd consider trying an O2 sensor clamp, to see if it eases the transition. Olderguy (on this forum) makes them.

what does the 02 sensor clamp do? i thought they were just to read out a/f ratio.. idk much about the O2 sensor inform me if youb could
