How can I tell the difference between Vmaxx and Raceland? It appears that Raceland has a similar design but different color.

18psi 07-29-2016 01:01 AM

by reading the stamped writing on them

AngelGdo 07-29-2016 01:03 AM

According to my buddy there's nothing written on them. But the spring rate in the red springs.

18psi 07-29-2016 01:11 AM

probably vmaxx
riceland never stamped spring rates iirc

18psi 07-29-2016 01:12 AM

what are the spring rates/

AngelGdo 07-29-2016 01:12 AM

Thanks for the help!

I don't know. I'll pick them up tomorrow for $300 and find out.

The Vmax extreme have VMAX stamped on the damper as well as on the springs. I know this because I have a set sitting on the shop floor right now. They also have a damper adjuster at the bottom of the shock body.

Should be V-MAXX. All the photos of Racelands on google images shows black collars, not blue.

18psi 07-29-2016 09:27 AM

The various racelands over the years had red, black, blue, etc colors. The many identical raceland "knockoffs" also vary in color.
There are tons of versions, with the only difference being the colors and the name lol
But yeah, I'd likely bet on vmaxx basic too

There are two types of coilovers: Xidas and Not-Xidas.

Those are some Not-Xidas.

You're almost there:
There are 2 types, xidas and wrong coilovers :D

Braineack 07-29-2016 11:33 AM

if you have no clue what they are, how can you recognize them?

18psi 07-29-2016 11:47 AM

because random guesses based on color alone = recognition

Are those NA top hats?

AngelGdo 07-29-2016 10:38 PM

They were in fact Vmaxx coilovers. However, they seem like they have been through a lot of miles. According to Flying Miata V Maxx coilovers can't be rebuilt. I'm hoping I didn't shoot myself in the foot for going cheap.

Anybody know how duravle this brand of coilover is? Flying Miata mentions that they are more durable than Illumina coilovers, and they haven't had to utilize the 2 year warranty in any of the sets that have been sold.
