help miata won't start

to keep it brief-brokedown on parkway. Miata will not start, fuel pump powers on when key is in on position. No obvious lose or disconnected sensors/wires. Pulled plug wire on cylinder 1 inserted screw driver cranked for a few seconds saw one weak spark- happened a few times. On one occasion got a few good sparks car powered on then shut off about a minute later. Thinkin coils or igniter, but have been having alternator issues lately. also i have a megasquirt, 460cc injectors, and begi-s if it helps

one question, your kidding in your sig. right?

your alternator has little to do with you cranking your car, so thats not it...
sounds like an ignitor to me...since you already have MS, why not upgrade to COPs, kiss bad ignitors goodbuy rich whiteboy

now go spend your welfare check

driftbandito 02-21-2008 08:25 PM

the sig is a joke, but what would cause my igniter to get fucked up

Rich Whiteboy- cuz i have a fine eye-talian sports car-don't hate

Zabac 02-21-2008 08:27 PM

the car is 15 years old...name a reason

driftbandito 02-21-2008 08:29 PM

What i meant was is it possible my megasquirt has to do with my ignitor problem

Braineack 02-21-2008 08:29 PM

search "Megasquirt + ignitor" and then ask that question again :)

driftbandito 02-21-2008 08:43 PM

I just read a few post, but it seems that people are messing up their ignitors while messing with ms. I have not looked at or changed anything on my megasquirt for a week or so and the car was driving fine. I was cruising on the highway today and the car died all of the sudden and i had to coast it to the side of the road.

same shit with me brotha aha, your supposed to unplug your igniter when installing firmware...and i didnt, i dont know if its my igniter or something else because my car wont start at all now but im still trying to figure it out lol.

Check the fuel injector fuse under the hood.

yup, unscrewed the oil fill cap, cranked car over, and watched the cam spinning

driftbandito 02-24-2008 07:35 PM

well it turns out that my ignitor was not the problem, apparently my CAS went bad replaced that and runs perfect now

miataz 02-24-2008 11:42 PM

So your car wouldn't start up because your crank angle sensor was bad? How did you determine what was bad?

I opened up megatune and decided to crank the car over and noticed I was getting no pulse width while cranking. That and i borrowed a friends 1.6 ignitor with no luck.

miataz 02-25-2008 07:30 AM

alrighty im going to have to check that out for myself thanks :bigtu:

Nice troubleshooting:bigtu:
I love the fact that via megatune you can see absolutely everything that's happening and troubleshoot almost any problem via the gauges.
