Default dispute with "pdexta"

I bought a new godspeed radiator from forum member “pdexta” in January for $150 paid through paypal. The radiator was advertised as fitting an NA Miata. Listing is here: https://www.miataturbo.net/showthrea...light=godspeed

I received the package but didn’t open the box until several weeks later when I went to install it. After opening the box, I realized that it was the wrong radiator and it’s not for an NA Miata. There are no holes or threads to attach the OE mounting brackets.

I PM’d pdexta and told him that the radiator was incorrect. He replied quickly and said that he was not aware the radiator was the wrong unit, claiming that he never opened the box before selling it to me. Pdexta received the incorrect order and passed it on to me.

So the only reasonable way to get the situation corrected would require pdexta to go back to the ebay vendor who originally sold him the radiator and get it swapped for the correct unit. I assume that Pdexta wasn’t interested in doing this because, as I later found out, the original vendor already gave pdexta a refund and they were waiting to get their radiator back. Instead of shipping it back to them, he sold it to me.

Anway, instead of helping me correct the situation, pdexta suggested that I call Godspeed directly (rather than the ebay vendor who originally sold it to him). So after countless calls to Godspeed, they told me they would issue a refund to the original ebay purchaser (pdexta) once they received the rad. So I called pdexta to tell him that I’d be shipping the radiator back to Godspeed, then they’d pay pdexta the refund, then pdexta would refund me. Pdexta and I agreed to this arrangement over the phone. But since he already got a refund from the ebay vendor, he certainly knew this wasn’t going to work. Of course he didn’t say anything.

Since I had no idea that pdexta already received a refund, I shipped the rad back to godspeed per our agreement (at my expense), in the original packaging, which then allowed godspeed to cross-reference the order number on the box with the original order from pdexta. Since the ebay vendor already issued pdexta a full refund, they had been waiting for pdexta to return the radiator. I unknowingly returned their merchandise which they’d been waiting for. They made sure to thank me for giving their radiator back and they have no plan to reissue the correct radiator to me, not surprisingly. All of this information was given to me by godspeed, including a screenshot of the paypal'd refund back to pdexta.

I am out $150 to pdexta, plus $25 shipping back to godspeed, and I have no radiator.

Not surprisingly, he won’t take my calls or reply to my numerous emails. He never did a single thing to help correct the situation. So after weeks of silence on his end, I left him negative feedback, to which he naturally responded with negative feedback to me as a buyer. I don’t see what I did wrong other than send my money and deal with bullshit and lies. And paypal won’t do **** because it wasn’t purchased through ebay and the 45 day period has expired.

Pdexta, I know you made the offer to help correct the situation, but strangely you have done nothing.

Maybe he is busy...

And who the hell doesn't open a package when it arrives, that doesn't make sense.

You're right... I did blow it by waiting to open the package. But it doesn't change the fact that the part was wrong and he did nothing to help correct it. I don’t see how it would have made a difference.

Busy? I haven’t heard back from him since 3/29. I think he could have gotten back to me by then.

Number one, the only way Pedestrian received the rad was by sending "something" on the mail with delivery confirmation. All PP checks for is confirmation of delivery regardless if what is on the box is a rock or the original item.

After he shafted big time the seller, then he posted it here and decided that was way to much fun and said, shafting people and making cash is cool. You were the victim in this new case. DID YOU PAY WITH PAYPAL?

If not that is the number one mistake, you had to do the same thing, send a rock back to him or a bunch of pebbles with cool colors with delivery confirmation and then head out to EBAY and sell it accordingly. This way he gets a dose of his own medicine and you could recover your money.

The seller from EBAY played stupid and you fell for it.

On top of that, he stole the rad from Godspeed and you did not pay him once, but twice and paid for his shipping!

Are the Godspeeds not available still from the group buy thread? I know it is still a sticky. My godspeed has been running great for the past 2 years.

Damn, if all said in the OP is true, that is some deliberate douchebaggery...

I can relate to the OP in the sense that there are times when I stock up on parts and am only later able to really give them a look over. Not ideal, but seriously in this case it's obvious it wasn't a time issue as it was planned from the day he decided to keep the rad from the ebay seller... Based solely on the OP

Here's to hoping for, but doubting a reasonable solution.....

caveat emptor ladies and gentelman, the only thing i see wrong here is pdexta didnt do his due diligence before offlaoding the radiatior. Other than that he sold you the contents of the box that to the best of his knowledge where correct, and you received it without asking for pictures or further information. just man up and fab in some **** to hold it in place and stop being such a damn *****. and next times i would hope you do abit more homework on what you are buying.
And i would hope the pdexta would start checking his own **** before he tried to resell it. We are a rather tight nit comunity here and we dont stand for to much douchbaggery. Yeah mistakes happen but lets just say we are good at spotting trends as well, and correcting them as best possible.

None of the GodSpeed units from the group buy had mounting brackets. Were the hose bosses in the wrong places? Sounds like the radiator I bought from them, then proceeded to install according the instructions in the multiple posts here about the bracket swap.

Did you read the whole post? pdexta had already contacted Godspeed and received a refund due to it being the wrong radiator before putting it up for sale. Then he sold it to the OP instead of returning it to Godspeed, so he was trying to rip off a company and the OP.

And the OP shipped it back to Godspeed to receive the 'correct' unit and Godspeed told him to basically shove it and won't send him another as the original seller was supposed to send it back... This guy sounds like a total douche-pickle. Where is he located?
