Help with post head gasket no start

90 chassis, MS3 pro, 94 block(84mm pistons), 99 head with exhaustake and fm cam gears, Supermiata damper.

Car ran with no problems (other than oil in the coolant) prior to head being pulled to replace head gasket. The only stuff removed from the head was the valve cover, the coolant neck (off the back of thr head), and the cas. The mazda head gasket was swapped out for a cometic 30mm.

When reassembled I noticed that when the motor was turned to tdc (using a ziptie in cylinder 1) the crankshaft pulley didnt line up the way I expected. Instead the tdc mark on the block lined up with the 10° mark on the crank pulley.

I timed the motor to that, car cranks for days but no ignition. Plugs verified to fire, all were wet when I pulled them, compression test showed 150psi and above in all cylinders. I checked all grounds, they are connected along with all other connections.

I also tried adjusting the cas all over the place with no result along with trying to putting it in backwards (I couldnt get it to go in that way).

What am I missing?

What crank pulley are you using?

Tried again today with starter fluid. Another healthy middle finger. So to me that says it isnt a fuel problem.

Also voltage is at 12.8v so reasonable.

I attached another ground strap from the frame to the intake manifold and retorqued all the other ground connections with zero success. I am running out of ideas.

It was self sabotage. My cam gears were on like shit, I took my valve cover off and aligned the cams (first lobes turned out), then set the cam gears appropriately and timed the engine. Started first crank like nothing ever happened.
