I am sure he will look at all that when he tunes it (he definitely seems to very capable and honest), i have no idea what they are myself at the moment...not a tuner/gearhead myself...

Since you have a megasquirt, can you post the tune (MSQ) and some logs?

Not a tuner or a gearhead, but you drive a megasquirted turbo miata? Don't take that as an insult, it's just most people on this site have turbo'd n megasquirted miatas cause they built them.

You don't have to be a gearhead, but at the bare minimum you should know what air fuel ratio your wideband is reading while in and out of boost. You have a gauge, right?

Yeah, please share your wideband readings with us. That's the first place to start.

What's your A/F at idle, cruising, 5 psi and WOT?

Bought the car already built and was running pretty good it seemed to me except for a cold start issue. I didn't have anyone like Gary where i was living before that could help me/teach me...

I don't have the car right now and Gary is going to start really digging into it early next week...we will figure out what is wrong and get the A/F right, etc, plus, with Gary's help, i will learn the basics i need to know about running a car like this. I will never be a gearhead (don't have the time for one thing), but i will learn the basics and get the car right one way or the other...

Remember when you called me and I told you to read on this forum and you told me I had to come over to your house and teach you everything I knew? It takes effort and commitment, zero effort and refusing to read will get you nowhere. This forum will teach you everything you want to know but you need the initiative to do it yourself.

Well, not being defensive, just stating the situation:

1) I am a PCB designer by trade, certainly not harder than setting up a FM2 turbo with MS or rebuilding an engine, but i learn best (i am a bit on the autistic side like my fully autistic daughter) by someone taking me thru what i need to know and me writing down notes, then taking those scribble notes and turning them into various step by step procedures for each thing i have to learn.

Thus, the desire to have someone work directly with me telling me all the basics i need to know...if i was wealthy, i would hire a guru turbo/supercharger guy and literally spend weeks with him learning and writing notes.

Gary has said that he will teach me the very basics on how to properly maintain the car, what to look for, etc.

Until i have that basic knowledge, most of the posts on this particular forum are very confusing for me, and i have spent time reading them and trying to understand them...on miata.net turbo section also...

I have very little time due to driving/working over 60 hours per week, plus being a single dad with two children, one of whom is autistic, so most of my spare learning time at home goes to learning how to heal my daughter...

I have thought of selling the turbo and going NA simply due to wanting to be more simple and at my level of understanding when it comes to cars, plus to save some $$$ to help pay for autism therapies. If i am to keep the turbo, i need to somehow learn the basics i need to know to run a car this intense. Again, the car came already built.

I need a mentor/helper locally more than anything...i could read this forum constantly and still not have a clue about most of what is posted...its not the way i learn for one thing (as i said, i learn by having someone tell me 'You need to know how to do X or Y, you need to check X or Y every week, and here are the steps to do that', then i write notes and now know how to do that and that i NEED to do that)...

That doesn't mean i can't learn anything from just reading this forum, i can, but a lot of it is over my current level of understanding...

I want my miata to be in top notch condition, and would love to have a turbo or supercharger on it, but without someone willing to work with me in the manner i describe (hopefully Gary will fill that role, however at a cost and not as fully as a local friend would), i am not sure i shouldn't part out the turbo and go more basic with a 130whp type NA setup...

Anyway, that's why i wanted to work directly with you Hustler in person, rather than just reading forum posts...

Is there anyone in the Dallas area that would work with me in person to get me understanding all the basics about running an FM2 turbo, what to look for, how to datalog, how to fix various things, etc...that would really help me if i decide to keep the turbo...

I remember the injectors being very loud compared to the stock ones... Other than that, maybe post a vid? Did you have someone help you re-tune/datalog the car in OK when you cut up the exhaust?

I think this was the tune that was loaded when you picked up the car. I can't remember... It wasn't polished, needed some tweeking for sure.
