Replacing plastic window

Replacing plastic window
My top is in great shape except for the plastic wondow. Anyone here ever cut out the plastic and put in a new one? How did you reinstall it? Where did you get the plastic?

A guy local to us just replaced his glass window with some kind of marine grade clear plastic. Looked really good.
The rear window is a separate piece from your top. Remove your rain rail, the two phantom rivets behind the seats and unzip it and take it to someone who can replace the plastic.

That's what I plan to do, but I was hoping I could buy the material myself and maybe hot glue/silicone it in?

TBH I would be worried about silicone/hot glue holding up. Its been my experience that even though it will 'stick' to plastic and vinyl, it doesn't really 'bond' all that well. I bet the first time the material bunched up it would peel apart. Modeling glue might work a bit better if you are set on using an adhesive though. It actually melts the plastic when its applied and bonds quickly.

I scored some vinyl from a fabric shop and used "marine glue" in a blue tube from Lowe's from the inside. I used paint mix sticks and stapled through it told hold it tight. After that dried I went from the outside of the window and ran some clear silicone through it and its water tight. Its been like this 4-years now and its still water tight, not faded, and baller. I wish I had used the smoked/tinted vinyl they had at the fabric shop though.
