Default That Insurance commercial where they smash Miatas

Anybody seen this?

Setting aside any disgust for seeing a couple of nice NBs getting smashed, I noticed something kind of strange...

Isnt that a 94-97 NA 7 spoke wheel?

yes, its probably not a real car. the sounds not even make sense with the crash really. Computers do amazing things these days.

and they both have the wrong wheels on them lol

Those bastards. Myth Busters likes (hates?) Miatas as well. I know we have cheap Japanese cars that just happen to be fun convertibles, but still.

The cars are real and the wheels are real. But the wheels were not necessarily attached to those cars. They probably shot all 3 cars and wheels separately and then composed into a single shot. That would be the easiest way.

I was a little pissy at first, then I realized that the Miata was the most mass produced roadster "of all time...OF ALL TIME"...thanks Kayne. Then I wasn't so mad, because the higher percentage of miatas are stock, or close to it, and driven by people who just drive them. Therefore, 2 miatas being smashed for a commercial is fine by me. It is like "Gone in 60 Seconds". The first time I saw that movie I was pissed that they smashed a 1967 Shelby GT500. Then I realized, in reality what they smashed was a 1967 Mustang Fastback that was a small block car. It also had not one single functional scoop on it, and wasn't even close to an original Shelby GT500. That relieved my pain.
Same thing with Ferris Buehler's Day Off. The most expensive car to ever be auctioned off, and also my original dream car, gets punted off of jack stands and cruise controlled out of a garage window to it's death....or did it?
