Those seats look fuckhuge. I briefly skimmed the description and didn't see the dimensions -- if they're there, then I apologize. I would recommend inquiring the dimensions of the seats and, specifically, try to get a feel for the height (remember our cars our tiny).

Most people who buy seats off eBay just "splurge" and go for the Bride repos.

I bought them. I'm cheap. They look decent, but I have no idea if they'll last.

Seats are hard, don't expect long trips to be comfortable. They fit my 36+" butt, and give pretty good lateral support. They're a very tight fit, and will rub on the tunnel. They will NOT mount up unless you make custom brackets of some sort. I used stock sliders and had adapters made at work.

I will eventually get rid of them and get better seats, but I needed something now, and didn't want to spring for Corbeaus right now.

I would be worried, about 2 things. 1 ebay seats, dont get in an accident with them if you like living. 2, I hate seats with shoulder wings they just push you out of the seat.

If you really want a cheap seat. Kirkey 09 Series Economy 20 Degree Layback Seat, 15-1/2 Inch Wide - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop Its what I run, best seat for not running a harness, you can run the thing with a lap belt only and it holds almost as well as a harness. I added some more foam under the *** and lower back and its the only car seat I've ever sat in where I can drive for 4 hours and not have my *** fall asleep or my back kill me when I get out. Only real negative is that people who dont drive kirkey's think you're and idiot and your back and *** get really ------- sweaty. They do require a "custom" bracket but its literally just some decently thick aluminum or steel flat stock going across the stock brackets.

How would a regular seat be any worse in a crash than stockers?

It has a locking tilt mechanism just like stock seats. It's made fairly robustly, but is slightly lighter, having a smaller seat pan underneath. No, it's not a racing seat. It's a replacement seat for the street.

Factory seat has been crash tested to a certain known standard.

Chinese seat is tested to hold up well enough to hold it's own shape while being mounted. Hopefully.

Looks like they're claiming they're racing seats. Its part quality that I would be worried about. Will the seat bolts tear out of the bottom? Will that locking ratchet fail in an accident? The OEM seats had to go through a lot more testing and meet higher standards than that seat. Even a reclining fia approved seat from a major brand I would be wary about because it doesnt have to meet as strict standards as an OEM piece.

The mounts on the bottom are definitely an issue: they're really weak aluminum with like 3-4 threads worth to hold the bolt. The rest is also fairly cheap and weak, which is why you're paying half price. But honestly I don't think this will change anything: if you get in a wreck in a miata a seat falling apart will be the last of your worries. I think having a roll bar is much more important, and its a no-brainer that these are in NOT meant for real racing.

I have these eBay Racing seats and they are alright. Everyone creams their pants how awesome they look, but, after sitting in some super-duper-mega-awesome rigid "real" seats (like Sparco PRO2000, that seat makes my dick hard) they feel mediocre.

Still, cheap, work with 5/6pt harness, easy to clean, very comfortable, easy to mount into miata. Not super rigid but I think it's because I have them mounted on stock rails which have "play" to them

would it be stupid to use those with stock belts?
also how is fitment? are they super close to everything and/or rubbing, esp up top by the seat belt, or are these compact enough to fit good?

I dont see what would be stupid about using stock belts with them, unless they dont let the shoulder belt sit right, which is actually a problem with some racing seats.

They are extremely comfortable if you fit in them. They are very uncomfortable if you don't (seat squeezes your hip bones, basically)

Longest I've done was 5 hours non-stop drive. I also have 5 point harnesses and no AC, cruise or stereo. So all my entertainment is the turbo

That's a great justification for buying shitty parts. "Hey, the car is already dangerous so I might as well remove the seat belts"

I consider seats a safety item and I wouldn't even consider buying a non-OEM seat that doesn't have a certification.

I just love how so many people are all about safety. Roll bars, not style bars. Certified harnesses and racing seats. And yet, they remove the airbag to put in a Momo steering wheel.

These ebay seats have the same recline mechanism I had in my Toyota. I'd be willing to bet they're nearly as strong as those seats were, too. It's not like they're going to explode underneath you.

Cheaper seats are more likely to tear out of their mounts, cheap reclining seats are more likely to have the recline mechanism break in an accident. They're also more likely to flex in an accident and sometimes break in the middle if they dont tear out of their mounts. Hell I've seem one break before just accelerating.

I'm really not seeing your point.
Ok they'll break, they'll flex, but the roll bar will keep you from eating cement, and the belt/harness will still keep you from flying forward. So what part of the seat being cheap will kill you?
