how hard is it to put power steering back in
So im debating to take my powering steering out of my 2000. And just wondering how hard would it be to put back in just in case i dont like driving without it.

Take the belt off, that will give you a decent indication of how you like driving without it without doing all the work (will be a little tighter than it will be once you remove it completely.) THere is no need for PS on a miata, but if you do ever need to put it back in, its not that big of a deal so long as you don't screw any of the lines up or lose anything from the system.

Taking the belt off is nothing like driving out PS. It's much MUCH heavier. This wasn't even what he was asking. I'm not too sure how hard it would be to retrofit PS. Not too difficult I'd guess.

If you genuinely don't think your car feels broken with the PAS belt off there's something wrong with your judgement skills. I can bench my own weight, so no manning up required ta.
|
If you dont do a lot of low speed, city, parking lot driving or whatever then I'd suggest ditching it. If you do, keep it. The car I currently own has a depowered rack and I hate it around town. Luckily I have all the parts and will be re-powering it (like you're asking about) in the next week or two.

PS on a miata is ridiculous. I never drove one with PS, but I'd imagine it takes half the fun away.
If you cant handle driving through stop and go traffic without it, then your obviously a women and belong in the kitchen making me something to eat. My broken to fuck right hand was in a cast and I still drove my shit around no problem. No PS and shifting with my left hand like man. |
LOL hataz gon hate.
I weigh 190 and bench 20 over at least 10 times, and beat the everliving shit out of anyone within 50lbs of me in boxing. I dont think I'm weak. But that's not even the point. It has nothing to do with having arm strength or weakness. I dont know how much traffic/city driving you've done living where you live, but I'm sure its nowhere near as much as we do here, and that shit gets old real fast. True story. |
thanks for the input guys

The easiest way to get manual steering is to remove the 2 hoses that go to the steering rack. Loop them so they are in a continuous loop with a barb hose joiner and then pull the power steering pump/compressor. I'm tempted to do it my self but keeping my hands away due to resale value. I guess if the adaptronic works i wont be selling it.

yea i not totaly shure how long im going to keep this one this is why i asked
|
ps is so nice, turn like a boss without trying. it is probably just as hard as taking it off just doing everything in reverse. i drove a few miatas without ps, fuck that shit.
|
Well now that the adaptronic is running like a champ WITH THE RIGHT INJECTOR DEAD TIMES I guess i'll be depowering soon!!!
|
When i drive another miata with PS i think it's magically... and ice skating.
|
I put PS on my car. Turns out the manual rack was damaged (bent) and that's why it was so hard to turn.
Installing is not difficult, but certainly is a pain in the ass, because clearances are tight. Hardest part of taking it off is finding the PS delete pully bracket. |
Shit 120 bucks for a bracket.. i guess i'll stay with the PS.
