That kit is, in my opinion*, not ideal. 6 fasteners that are of undisclosed quality to hold the hats onto the rotors. Too much rear bias with the '7 rear calipers. Steel rotors that wear poorly.

The newer FM/Goodwin kits are the tits. And probably not much more expensive.

* I had the Panache / Monster miata kit shown and upgraded to the FM/Goodwin.

Really... hmm I was thinking this was the best kit on the market. I looked at the baer kit, but its too heavy.

There is always the Chikara motorsports BBK.

It uses the Wilwood billet dynalite calipers with billet steel caliper mounts,SS brakelines and the 10.6 sport brake rotors.

I just don't see the reason for buying those brake kits beyond looking cool. :confused:

weight, 4 pistons, surface area, coolness. it all makes a difference.

my buddies dad, on his mustang race car started with stock size rotors/pads and sotck claipers. soon upgrade larger calipers (thunderbird i believe) with stock rotor size. Then even larger (thunderbird again I think) calipers and rotors. Then just finally upgraded to 5-lug 94-95 cobra rotors and calipers and wishes he had just done it in the first place.

I'd love to feel a 4 piston over our oem calipers.

I just don't think the Miata is "under braked". I know- I've said all this before. :blah:

oh but on the track! good lord it feels good to stop lap after lap.

well I'm still deciding what to go with... my cars being built mainly for track since I've got another car for daily use. I don't see a point in going cheap and not geting the best thing money can buy. y8s so you think I should go with the goodwin 4 kit?

If I ever go BBK I'm doing the Version 4 Goodwin kit.

All I'm getting at is that a good set of pads, ducting and a proper braking technique will do wonders for the Miata. If you're getting brake fade, fluid boil/air, or excessive pad wear something is wrong.

pakman, try it stock on the track first (with good pads)

I've recently installed wilwood 4piston calipers with 11" zimmermann rotors bbk for the front, I went from brembo rotor/ hawk hps pads to wilwood w/SS lines. All I can say is it's such a big improvement, I love these, brakes never felt so nice and firm. I'm also doing a custom bbk rear kit using the stock caliper with 10.9" rotor and Project Mu D1 spec brake pads, to even out the balance and hopefully my ebrake will be better. Just waiting for pads to come from japan.

the driver of that particular car is known for being hard on things. hard on the gas, hard on the brakes, hard on the tires. he's fast... but he'd never finish an enduro.
