How to remove bolts on lower front wheel brace

Okay short story, i was driving and this kid with a scoooter pops out of nowhere behind a truck, w/o enough time to break i had to swerve to teh right side and fishtailed into curb. No body dmg , but the wheel got dented and the right lower front brace got dented in badly. Now the question is there are two big bolts that hold the brace to the body of the car, these bolts are like the super bolts, they even got marks on them to indicate the level of tightness. have anyone had experience removing this bolt out with hand tools? or do i have to get some power tools for this one? Thx any help would be greatly appreciated, im screwed if i cant get it fixed by monday for school.

how about you retype your entire story with correct grammar and punctuation and spelling so it's actually readable

thanks chief

Story) I was cruising and a kid on a scooter flew out behind a truck on the left side of the road. Without enough time to break, I had to swerve to the right side to avoid killing this bastard. I fishtailed for a little and managed to slow the car down a bit before it slid and my front passenger wheel hit the curb. This impact caused my wheel to dent in a little while the lower wheel brace got dented downward badly. I was hoping to fix this by replacing the lower brace, but first I need some help on removing it.

1) lower front wheel brace have (two/dos/2) SUPER bolts used to attached the brace to the body of the car.

2) these bolts are super tight.

3) is there a way to remove them easily with handtools or do i have to rent some powertools.

4) any help would be appreciated and have a nice day everyone.

holy shit that is so much easier to read.

By lower wheel bracing I'm assuming you mean lower control arm? The A shaped thing on the bottom of the hub?

If you have tools with a lifetime warranty...there is nothing quite like a 3-4ft piece of pipe to break bolts loose....just be careful not to strip or actually break the bolt.

lol.

Yea, breaker bar or impact FTW on those type of bolts

duhwun07 05-03-2008 04:00 PM

Yea, thats probably the correct term for it (lower control arm). You see , regular bolts I've been able to easily loosen with a breaker bar, but those two bolt that keep the arm attached to the main body of the car looks different. It has marks on it to indicate the level of tightness or something. Its obvious why those bolts need to be on that tight, but I don't know if they will even budge. I'm just afraid if stripping it if i remove it wrong.

lol J.T, thx for the advice. btw if you want to be more precise on fixing his punctuation, there should be another comma after "punctuation" ^^

Commas before 'and' in lists aren't required. Using them there is a matter of style.

The comma after "punctuation" is optional.

But onto the real deal... The alignment bolts on the control arm shouldn't be on so tight that you cannot remove them. Just put a long wrench on there and give it some muscle. Harbor Freight has breaker bars for around $10 usually, so go invest in one of those and be amazed at how a lever work!

Mach929 05-03-2008 04:59 PM

lol, this is funny. those indactions of the eccentric washer are not because it is a "SUPER BOLT" haha. the are you're lower control are bolts and they are used to adjust your alignment via the "marks" and they might be rusted and corroded so if you get them out i'd recommend replacing them and getting an alignment

take the handle of your jack and slide it onto your ratchet.

duhwun07 05-03-2008 05:39 PM

Grammar Nazis are well advised to watch their own capitalization and choose their prepositions carefully.

That time of the month again?

don't worry about stripping them... they have nuts on the back side IIRC so if you strip it you can just replace the nut/bolt. If you round off the head you can just cut the bastard out and replace it. The mazda recommended torque on those is ~75 ft*lbs I usually torque them to 125 ft*lbs because I've had trouble with my front alignment slipping.
