How tall is everyone?

Hopefully i dont get too much backlash for this question. I did a search and didnt find anything. So like the title says....How tall is everyone? Im 6'4 and i have concerns about fitting into this car. Anyone around my height on here?

pdexta 01-08-2009 02:03 PM

Miata's have a good bit of room in them considering their size. I can't lend any real personal experience though, you've got a good half a foot on me.

thymer 01-08-2009 02:05 PM

6'3", ultrashield bolted directly to the floor with rear floor humps cut out. My helmeted head is 1.5 or so inches under the bar.

icantthink4155 01-08-2009 02:06 PM

this is an m.net question, that gets asked there once a week. There should be a huge combined thread. I think most here are around 6'

96rdstr 01-08-2009 02:11 PM

LOL, 5'5". Far from 6'.

Newbsauce 01-08-2009 02:18 PM

There's a bunch of stuff you can do about your physical deformity (being tall). :) Look up some post by SamNavy. He's a big boy and fits just fine with the seat mods such as seat foam removal and bolting seats lower.

BradC 01-08-2009 02:22 PM

6'2", no problems. Much better though with a smaller steering wheel

y8s 01-08-2009 02:23 PM

6 ft but I'm all torso and balls.

jmack 01-08-2009 02:24 PM

6 2, mostly leg. Fit fine in the miata, but would like to get a little lower. Haven't done any foamectomy or otherwise. Head still close to the rollbar.

hustler 01-08-2009 02:34 PM

5'11", 32" inseam, 4" dong. Seat on the floor.

Savington 01-08-2009 02:45 PM

My penis fails the broomstick test :(

skidude 01-08-2009 02:46 PM

I'm 6' and I fit fine. Some days I wish the seat would go back one more notch, and I don't fit with an autocross helmet on and the top up, but 99% of the time it's just right.

+1 ^^^ and 114 pounds

GrahamC 01-08-2009 03:28 PM

5' 8" here and it feels like the car was made for someone my height. Perfect car.

Trent 01-08-2009 03:30 PM

5'9" 30" inseam.

I fit just fine, though i don't fit as well with a helmet on. with the stock seat, i would fail the broomstick test. :giggle:

ray_sir_6 01-08-2009 03:52 PM

6'4" tall.

I had to remove the armrest to fit.

messiahx 01-08-2009 03:53 PM

6'1", skinny as fuck. If I sit bolt upright I can touch the top with my head. Really my only complaint is that the rearview mirror is right at eye level and blocks a lot of the forward view to the right. Also, sometimes I have to lean forward to see stoplights.

mikeflys1 01-08-2009 04:00 PM

6', fit fine but in the annoying zone of either having to look over the top of the windshield at traffic lights or leaning way the hell over if I have the top up.

evank 01-08-2009 04:02 PM

My height is 5-8. My ego is 6-8.

I like to position the seat as far back as possible on the rails, but also as upright on the vertical axis. That being said, sometimes I do wish the horizontal rails had one extra notch for improving legroom.

Obvious question: can the rails and/or the sliders be modified to lock in place a bit farther back, while retaining all safety measures?

jamiemiller 01-08-2009 04:03 PM

5' 11" 300~ fit perfectly, except had to remove the sun visors to see stop lights.

Joe Perez 01-08-2009 04:04 PM

6'2", about 230 lbs currently (normally more like 200, long story). Size 14 boots. I fit just fine into my '92 with no modifications. Seat, steering wheel, etc. are all stock. The top of the windshield frame does occasionally obscure my view of traffic lights, but I just look over it.

My only complaint is that the cuff of my left pant leg does occasionally hang on the hood release handle. Seriously, that's it.

I think the top of the windshield obscures traffic lights for lots of people. I personally am 5'8 330 lbs and it depends where the traffic light is positioned in relation to the "stop line".

virginia traffic lights are on the wrong side of the intersection from what I've experienced. I cant see the shit in most cars. often it's easier to look OVER the frame.

VDOT = VDUM

ChairFaceChippendale 01-08-2009 05:10 PM

6'1" not skinny, not fat. i feel like the car is made for me. my womans father is 6'5" and he fit in my car about as comfortably as i do. i also have no problem as far as my roll bar is concerned.

traffic lights can be a slight issue...i still have my sun visors installed with no plan on removing them.

i'm consiering gutting the seat mostly because i'm currently out of parts to throw on the car and i'm pretty bored at the moment. i also want to get some non arm rest door cards, but they really aren't needed in my case. they'd just be the kind of thing i'd pick up if i stumbled across them.

Vashthestampede 01-08-2009 05:27 PM

6ft with a bruce lee build and I fit like a glove. There's times where I wish I could have some room to stretch, but usually I'm too busy enjoying the car to care.

My nephew is about 300lbs and if I had to guess maybe 6'5", that son of a bitch loved the ride but stuck out like a gorilla. He seriously had his line of sight right at the windshield frame. Not to mention the entire car leaned to his side. It was pretty funny to take him around in it. :)

6'1", 180lbs. I love my car.

sixshooter 01-08-2009 05:55 PM

1.85 meters, 14.2 stones, and I fit just fine.

johndoe 01-08-2009 06:55 PM

5'8", 142 pounds or so. I run a Sparco Fighter w/Sparco sliders on custom rails. Seat is pretty tall. Planning on running the TDR ultrashields at some point this year.
Hardtop is your friend.

juxt3r 01-08-2009 08:21 PM

5'4" on a good day, stocky but not fat. Needless to say, I have no issues fitting into these cars, though for some reason I do prefer seats with most of the foam removed. I must look like a 6-year-old when I'm driving...
If you see a WTB ad for phone books and pedal extenders, you know why, mkay?

disturbedfan121 01-08-2009 09:28 PM

5'9" 220 i fit in my sparco sprint (not the sprint 5) with no problems

Erotomania 01-08-2009 10:05 PM

I'm 5'11" 160lbs and I fit pretty well. I like to sit kind of close up to everything and I don't like reaching so, my seat is always a knotch or 2 from the furthest back with the seat leaned back a little. I feel a little big in the car, but It fits me fine. I'd say the only car that seems to fit me better is an S2000. Regardless, I love the fit in a miata, I like cars to put you in a cockpit kind of feel and you certainly get that in a miata.

and I should not that my helmet was in the hardtop when I drove you car. You should probably never let me drive it again because ff I had put that car on the roof I would probably die...so good luck getting to my bank account to fix your car.

lol

Quite a few threads here and about 100 at m.net... search for more info.

But since my name was mentioned earlier:
Foamectomy (2"-3" lower)
Bent seat rails (allows rear of seat to sit about 1/2" lower)
Parking brake handle mod (give 1" more side-room for right leg)
Steering column mod (stock seat, need to raise steering column... aftermarket seat need to lower)
No dead pedal
Package shelf removed (allows seat to lay back extra 2")
Door arm-restes removed (allows left leg an extra 3" of space)

And for the ultimate "let's make some room in a Miata"... the Uber-Seat.

Other threads:

If you really want to know how much room you have to play with, then simply remove the seat and sit down... I can barely reach the pedals and my eyes don't clear the instrument hood. There is plenty of room, you just need to maximize it. I actually thought about just getting some fairly heavy gauge sheetmetal and hammering out a dish for my ass, bolting it to the floor and padding it a little... then lean back against a pillow or something. The uber-seat is as close as I could come and still sorta feel safe strapped into it.

I'm 6'4" 250lbs... this is how I rolled when I had a Miata:

1slowna 01-08-2009 11:50 PM

6'6" 200lbs and i feel like a racing seat and wheel would help but its not all that bad stock.

Savington 01-08-2009 11:51 PM

Seriously, though, I'm 5'10, 185lbs with a 31" inseam. MOMO Start on custom rails bolted to the floor, about 2" lower than stock. I am under the rollbar (HDHCHT) with a helmet on.

^Pretty much. The seat plastic is only about 1/8" thick and it's on the floor... so my butt maybe 1/2" off the floor. It was perfect.

apariah 01-09-2009 10:57 AM

I'm 5'7", and my wife if 5'3", she the fits either of us really well, but I actually bring the seat forward a lot.

mazdadude 01-18-2009 06:03 PM

Im 5'11", I find its a perfect fit!
