I cant get the car into "timing mode"???
 

Tried setting the timing and with the jumper in place it will not go into timing mode? What would cause this?

I know "GND" + "TEN"

The jumper has no effect on idle at all and the timing still advances with RPM when reved. So its not in the timing mode.

no timming mode does not do a static 10 btdc or whatever it stops the computer from adjusting timming to acheive a good idle. Of course it will advance when reved all you do with ten gnd is stop the automatic compensation for laod etc.

Got it. I had to restart the car with the jumper in place. Think I found my problem.

Is 24* of timing bad. Guess my pinging is explained.

yes that's bad...how can you even tell it's that far off? The marks only go to 16*.

The best thing to do is set the idle speed so when you take off gnd and ten the speed stays the same. then set the timing. If it's that far off I'd say the timing belt is off a tooth.

This all started after I got the car and then changed the timing belt. So I bet you were 1/2 right. I bet the previous owner had the belt a tooth off and set the timing that far off to cover his fuck up. When I did the timing belt I set it up right and that make it show off his mistake.
