I don't see that being a problem for him,the car is currently residing in Texas,it hardly rains there.

The only concern I would have with a hood like that is vandalism, all it takes is a fucking idiot to slice/rip out a spark plug lead wire and your stuck somewhere.

garage kept. It only comes out to play or go to work on nice days. I have a shitbox miata or subaru which are both invisible to thieves.

4 years with that hood, parked everywhere from my driveway to bars I never had a finger laid on my car.

Hustler, def do yourself a favor and get some nice black mesh and fill them vents. The difference from no mesh, to silver mesh, to finally black mesh was amazing. Without mesh it will let in foreign objects, plus it just looks "unfinished". And silver mesh gave it a cheap look to it. Black mesh was subtle, but looked perfect.

When is it going on the miata?

That's a good thing it's garaged, did you buy the hood brand new or used?

elesjuan 10-05-2008 04:30 PM

I like. :)

"new old stock"

A guy had it in south texas and didn't use it because he didn't want to cut it for the 99 motor in his car, I'm willing to do it if I must. I have to clean it up and put some filler around the edges because its not ready for paint. For $800 in fiberglass, I expect it to be ready for paint...for the price I paid, I don't.

I've never seen one painted to match the car...hopefully it's subtle enough that no one really notices it. It was either the carbontrix vent, or this. This car is going to be really slick.

I wanted to cry as i drove away from the garage today knowing that all I have left to do is bolt up the intercooler and pipes, but have to work so it won't happen until my next vacation. I plan on playing around with the south texas crew next month though.

Just get it painted flat black,it goes with everything and saves you money.

You can rock the "CR.net" style.

YES.

Along with the rusted out trunk look with some 13'' 0 offset deep dish wheels.

......fuck it,he might as well remove the fenders too....to complete the "Cali" look.....& save weight.

Only if you dump the turbo/fuel injection setup for carburetors.

944obscene 10-06-2008 01:36 AM

There was also a miata in one of the import magazines (modified mag maybe?) with a rusted "hood ride" trunk lid, 0 offset wheels, and carbs.

I lol'd.

Sick hood btw hustler, def wait and paint it body color imo.

Machismo 10-06-2008 01:30 PM

Glad you were able to find a good replacement hood....
And just so you know, that hood will make the car highly unstable at speed unless you de-power your rack. :giggle:
Just kidding....but keep thinking about it.

yeah, I'm going to just get the car running right now. I want to turn the key, smoke the tires, then decide if the trade-off is worth it or not. I just want to drive the thing man, its mocking me while I'm in the hill-country, with this gorgeous Texas Autumn...the texas winter looms. I want to go play with the south texas turbo crew really bad.

Boy I bet that was a rocket. I'm having a difficult time thinking about how hard I'd have to hold on in that car to not get blown out of the passenger seat by the massive 80rwhp that thing would make... :bang:

cueball1 10-06-2008 07:22 PM

They heat wrapped the header so it's likely pushing 90hp! That's if they can keep those carbs tuned together OK.

I'm in the same boat, but I have a little more work left. I want to get my car running!!!

I'm sure we could get some guys together to have some fun. I couldn't figure out how to word that, but I meant it in the least gay way.

:bowrofl:

I keep looking at that picture and scratching my head. While I honestly know very little about how factory OBD-I miata ECUs function but I'm having a very hard time believing that car runs for shit in any way.

No vacuum brake booster
No Real vacuum sources I can see period
No O2 sensor
No Injectors
No Water temp sensor
No AFM

It has me wondering how big of a shit the PCM takes everytime that thing is started. I was of the assumption that silly little things like, Ignition timing had corrolation to Intake Air temp, Coolant Temp, Throttle position, air flow? With all that missing wouldn't it just be in 'limp' mode?

Laur3ns 04-30-2009 05:25 PM

Is that hood on your car yet?

Savington 04-30-2009 05:36 PM

What do you think :P

hustler 04-30-2009 06:26 PM

driving home on may 8th. Then I have 3 days to make my heat exchangers, 6-speed swap, and clearance the hood.
