I think its my wiring, The previous owner had a 1.8 and extended the coil pack loom and i think one of the solders broke or some shit.

Changed the coil pack just to make sure and still same symptoms.

When you say you changed the coil pack, did you just unplug it and plug a new SET in, or did you swap individual coils? Plug the one that's firing into the wiring for the one that's not. If it doesn't work it's almost certainly the extended wiring, as you've replaced everything else. Or just tear apart the wiring and check it.

I said a while back to hook up a multimeter on continuity and check all the wires going back to the ECU. Will be a PITA but will figure out if it is wiring.

Yes

Will do, Ill check that in a bit.

Just flipped the wires in the coil and now 1 and 4 fire (which is still 2 and 3 but in a different coil) and 2 and 3 don't. So its my wiring i believe. I'm going to cut apart the solder joints and see if there's any cracks in the solder.

That looks gorgeous.

By chance did the PO have a white cane with a red tip on it?
Or maybe a doggy with a harness on it?

edit://I thought only cheap bastards with Volvos did that...

magnamx-5 10-06-2010 01:17 AM

curly 10-06-2010 03:25 AM

Is it over? I see a bunch of pictures of crappy wiring, but no broken wires/solder.

SKMetalworks 10-06-2010 07:24 AM

90GTK450 10-06-2010 11:25 AM

I may take you up on that, Saturday jeffs comin over and if we can't figure it out I'm gonna pull it out.

90GTK450 10-06-2010 11:43 AM

I think I tried to give it to you a long time ago, but no you didn't want it. Now if it is the wiring harness. All I have to say is you TARD.

Jeff_Ciesielski 10-06-2010 11:44 AM

Or you could, you know, take the harness and save me a headache :D. I'm going to bring my stim to make sure that your MS is firing correctly. While your wiring is totally fucked, I still want to make sure everything is A-OK with the MS and harness.

How long does it take to pull out and put in a harness?

shlammed 10-06-2010 06:58 PM

as long as it takes you to gut the car and reassemble it.
dash and all.

SKMetalworks 10-10-2010 12:11 AM

Fixed it, ecu was set on stim wheel and couple of solder joints broke.
