Yes, I know... dork.
Anyways, that's the best it's every fired off. It started like it was warm and it hasn't been run for 3 days. It didn't even crank really... it was simply running the instant I turned the key. WOW! The only other thing to note that's not in the video is the resistor:

I thought "seee, oooh, peeee" was the correct way to say COP...

Nice work and grats.

Actually, I learned a lot from the first build and have decided I don't really like the way I made the harness, so I think I'm gonna order another set of connectors and make a new harness, this time without the damn ignitor. I see no reason to gut an ignitor and wire everything into it when you can just use spade connectors on the existing ECU harness.

And I thought I'd need the individual sections of wire to each coil to be fairly long off the main wire, but they really need to be kinda molded into the main wire. Here:

Braineack 03-27-2008 11:39 AM

how about you just flip the coil around, tuck the wires in, remove the old igniter, and secure the new one and work on another project....

I guess that makes me one, too. I liked it, and it's not even mine.

You said the COPs were just seated in there. You plan on fastening them down?

99mx5 03-27-2008 08:35 PM

LOL @ manic laugh of victory! Congrats on a job well done!

samnavy 03-28-2008 12:08 AM

Yes, they'll be seated in with a piece of metal stock I'm still engineering. I've got 3 COPs threads going now and I detail it in one of the others.

When it's all said and installed, I'm going to do a "COPs for dummies" writeup and include things like "how to solder the harness" and "don't forget to slide the shrink wrap on before soldering" and a few other tasty treats for electrical retards like me. Brain's how-to in the archives is great, but I will improve on it like only I can.

The title under your name should be "Forum Babysitter, Come here kiddies"
You do write some seriously thorough how-tos though. I don't have that kind of patience.
