I went drag racing, broke into the 10's
Decided to go down to the good ole boy dragstrip out in BFE TN.
My fastest time was a 10.996 with a reaction of .397, I was consistently doing 11.1's the whole night though. Did about 6 runs. Oh yeah.................. this was in my stock 94 R in the 1/8 mile :giggle: I almost beat a big 2500 cummings diesel truck, he got me by 6/10ths of a second.... almost |
1/8th mile....
...who does that? |

I'm pretty sure you can't double the 1/8 mile to equal the 1/4 mile. Probably because of gearing, momentum, etc.

it was a joke. But running the 1/8th is like running a dyno to 3700rpm. |

I always start my 1/4 mile from a 40 roll.
|
I saw a stock 5.0 Mustang 'vert run 10 secs in the 8th mile just for comparison.

10 second 5.0 mustang.... wow. :loser: The track I ran is apprantly suck-ass. Going into second I would watch the tach go from 5300-5500 and stay at 5500 for what seemed like 1.5 seconds. Was worried my clutch was going out but a friend that watched me run said I was spinning, which is damn near unheard of with that car. My car is 100% stock except for a FM front sway, 15x7s with 205 gforce sports. I took out some air pressure from the rear tires, which I later figured out that it hurt me more than helped, lol. The closest 1/4 mile track is in Bristol, 2 hours away. I figure it would run mid 16s I suppose. Never drag raced before so..... who knows. |

But running the 1/8th is like running a dyno to 3700rpm. Everyone who has never been to an 1/8 mile track makes fun of it. Experienced drag racers will tell you otherwise. |
I've been to a 1/4 in my altima. I more of a man than you.

lol 1/8th mile good stuff

If you had the stock 14" wheel and tire combo, you would go much faster. When my car was stock, I would pump all four tires to 45 psi to make the car roll easier. It works, and is easy to change in minutes. It is not like a stock Miata is so overpowered that the tires will spin out of control. However, with the tires that hard, it take a little bit of practice to launch properly. Try adjusting the timing. I saw gains there as well. Most stock miatas I have seen at sea level, go faster than 10.50's at 67-69 mph in the 1/8th. Take all of the shit out of the trunk you don't need. |
My trunk was packed full of shit lol.
I had my tires at 25 psi :jerkit: My timing is stock, probly won't change, probly won't drag race again honestly lol. 205/50/15 tires.... not sure about the altitude, no sea level since im in East Tenn. mountain range. I had a friend told me he ran a 10.40 or something close in his stock R-package, but he had a hefty clutch. |
