If I buy the Miata I'm going to look at tomorrow....

Y'all are gonna be

'94, blue, lame body kit (but I've seen worse), JR stupidcharger kit, boss frog roll bar, some electric blue color, should have torsen rear.

But damn it's cheap.

Will post pics if I pick it up

Why not just wait, and save to find one that someone hasn't thrashed.
Then you won't be spending time and money reversing the screw ups.

Don't buy someone's shit pile. Make your own shit pile.

Edit: Shit. I can't resist.

I hope when you say cheap its like under 3k cheap. If its over that, I'm gonna laugh at how stupid you are selling a nice turbo NB for some tub of crap just to save 2k or something only to have to turn around and invest it into the car to properly build and boost it.

turbofan 05-20-2013 09:30 AM

It's not quite that cheap. Should be able to pick it up for $3500. Its not really a pile, just not done exactly the way i would have wanted. Also, it has the roll bar and torsen that the NB didn't and the >4k difference is pretty huge. The stupid charger might be fun for a bit. On top of that, I have decided that at least for now, the amount of power my NB had is a bad idea -- I'll lose my license.

We will see what happens.

Not too bad I guess. You can always sell the stupidcharger setup for about 1k anyway.

Ah, one more consideration: turns out, my wife doesn't like Miatas. having 7k + invested in a Miata is too much money for us likely for the next 3-4 years or so as we prepare for and attend graduate school. I can't spend that much on a toy just for me, and saving won't change that because we need to save for other things and the income won't support it. So I need to buy a cheap car. Looking at the other turd piles I can get for $3500 I don't see why not. If I don't enjoy it, I can easily get my money back out of it because those parts are expensive. My choices now and for the next several years are either: 1. buy a cheap Miata or 2. No Miata. I don't like option 2.

If any of you can find me a better Miata for under $4k, I'm all ears! Otherwise, for now I need something cheap and this should be a lot of fun (if not a lot of fast) for the money.

Precisely what I was thinking. If I decide I just can't handle the stupidcharger and must have trubo (chances are good that this will happen), then I can sell the kit and DIY my own turbo kit.

That being said: If the car is really poorly done and feels/looks like it's been thrashed, I will pass.

The JRSC isn't really all that bad. I liked it. Not anywhere near as much as I liked the feel of a turbo. But if the car is already SC, I feel it's an acceptable thing.
