IIT: We discuss our friend Murphy.
A few of my favorite moments I've shared with Murphy this spring/summer:
Original Problem: MS started randomly running on 2-cly. The only cure seemed to be physically hitting the MS unit to restore spark to all 4-cly. Cure: Swap CPU to spare MS mainboard. This lead to Problem: Idle erratic/problematic While Diagnosing: The rubber cap on the back of the head burst open while idling for about 45 minutes. Determined the IACV died. Cure: Replaced rubber plug with a hose from the back of head to the IM port on #1. Replaced IACV valve. This lead to Problem: LC-1 is now on the fritz. Once warmed up it sends random values rapidly to outputs. Believe sensor has failed. |
Yah I get to help fix Scott's car again.
At least replacing 02 sensor will be an easy job when we swap transmissions. |
I don't think Murphy ever accounted for you Scott.

Murphy?
Maybe you shouldn't chalk up your abject failures to fate, luck, or other theories based on skewed probabilities. |
I hate Murphy, he's an asshole.

You forgot to mention the random misfires you are having too.

Thats actually due to a medical condition. Something to do with blood flow and heart valves. Nothing to really worry about though.

Since this is a pity party....problems with my car this year:
-Car was running great, and would dust Mustang GTs and WRXs, I was happy -motor I swapped in two years ago dies due to oil ring failure, massive amounts of smoke -CAS dies first day on the road with hustler's replacement 1.6L (which was last running the day he got dominated by a soccer mom in a Prius) -I have problems with injectors, while simultaneously selling my back-up set, and see four sets of injectors, including an insanely cheap set of RCs go through my hands, swapping three times due to obligations from sells, and am left with a mix-match set of 550s that run horribly -I reset base timing, but forget the "-10*", which leaves me at a static 10* of timing for the next 300 miles. I think I got smoked by a douche in a Mustang that day, and the guy followed me for a mile, pointing and laughing. -downpipe gets tremendously hot, and needs a welding repair -cam seals die on new motor (only gasket or seal I didn't replace during swap), and car gets parked since it loses a quart a day -part out follows Luckily some nice members stepped in and helped a few times, as well as the usual advice. |
This thread is gay, I'm reporting it to a mod.

for evey solution there is an equal and opposite new-problem
actually, the new problem is never equal, and almost always more daunting than the previous |
