I just put on my begi s4 and now i have an oil leak and I'm not sure if its leaking from the oil feed line or this thing above it. what is the thing above the oil feed line and is it possible to leak oil or is the feed line spraying oil up on it. thanks

The big thing is the knock sensor. Mine looks just like that too. For some reason a spec of oil leaks out around where it goes and even through the sensor body itself. My sensor looked a lot worse though, and I chunked it. Doesn't look like an oil leak> If it was, it would be a lot messier.

Yea thats what I was thinking it was I just wasn't sure, so would that mean I most likely have a small oil leak from the oil feed line because i keep finding small oil drops on my garage floor there about two times the size of a quarter.

ensure the lines are snug, and it appears that it was JBwelded in there, maybe more JBweld is called for

So what your saying is the knock sensor is not exposed to any oil just just mounted on the side of the block.

I think the only thing the knock sensor has to do with this image is that it happened to be in it. Does that line run to the turbo?

yea i know Ive taken it off two times and resealed it with thread sealant, but tonight I figured I would take a better look be for I pull it off again and try to reseal it.

Your oil feed in the picture ain't leaking hoss. That's just the knock sensor with some weird **** leaking out. It's not oil. It's like sticky weird **** but not oil. I've got a 99', and I'm quite familiar with that area. If you have an oil leak, it's elsewhere. There's no JB-weld in the picture that I can see either.

So you think I should take the feed line off and put a lot of thread sealant on there, like cover the whole thing. Because I didn't have an oil leak before I put the turbo on.

I'm lost and looking for directions, it could be the knock sensor like pat was saying. Maybe it utilizes some sort of liquid since vibrations travel better the denser the medium. Lets diagnose this before you start plumber's taping everything

Yes that is thread sealant you see in the pic, and the direction of flow is right but the oil feed line is pointing down, so your down is really straight up.

If it is oil that is dripping on the floor, check the crimps around the stainless line.

Ill check them but if they are bad is there anything I can do besides replace the line.

Use a good thread sealant and tighten that feed line again. I hate teflon tape to death.

I used some type of Permatex stuff on my dual feed fuel rail. The tape kept leaking, so after a couple times I used the sealant, and 10 minutes later no leaks.

EDIT: On second thought, the feed line looks dry. From the looks of the photo its whatever is above the feed line (knock sensor really?) that is leaking.

Thats what I used and Ive done it twice, does that stuff take a wile to cure all the way. I'm about to take it off and use the whole tube of permatex on there.

I thought the only fittings that were supposed to use teflon tape were NPT fittings?

Thats what I was thinking because I feel a little oil on the oil feed line but it looks like to me its dripping down on there.
