I'm thinking abotu cutting my front bumper like this

http://www.onetongarage.com/products...bodykit_05.jpg
http://www.onetongarage.com/ebay/supermade/180_03.jpg

I want to cut it right below the hood, and mold it in with fiberglass. Thoughts?

Atlanta93LE 08-07-2008 10:54 PM

How 'bout you stop thinking, and do something, anything?

I'm flying home on 8/31, and taking September off to build my car, ball outta control, and go to the track by 9/19.

patsmx5 08-07-2008 11:12 PM

Without counting, I bet you've started a hundred threads worrying about something breaking. All the while, you are not turbo. Furthermore half of those threads are you whining about how it's hot in texas and around here everything overheats so what do you think about this (insert topic of thread) to keep me from overheating. This is just another one of those threads.

Splitime 08-07-2008 11:17 PM

Run without a bumper.

naarleven 08-07-2008 11:28 PM

Too much hustler hate.

I like the look, unsure of the functionality.

I think it's more work that it's worth. You'll have to reconfigure the upper bracing and mount point for the bumper skin, which you could just cut the hole lower and not have to deal with it. And the lower part of the hole will need good support if you track the car, because it's going have some heavy load on it at 100+mph... if you go that fast. :giggle:

johndoe 08-08-2008 09:33 AM

+1 In pics it looks like the bumper on Savington's car has warped around his cutout due to wind.

i might do something similar, but mold it. I can't handle the hack-job look.

Then get one of the brightning vents to install.
Attachment 211888

Or cut it and door trim it like mine... that at least makes the hack job look cleaner.

y8s 08-08-2008 10:03 AM

cutting the bumper like that will make a ncie place for the air to go over the radiator.

HOW ABOUT GET CAR BUILT AND MEASURE TEMPS FIRST?

yes more info on the carbon parts on that car please

Splitime 08-08-2008 10:59 AM

clubroadster.net and look around. I found it with a few searches.

m2cupcar 08-08-2008 11:02 AM

The brighting vent looks about as afterthought as anything- the one thing cutting a hole has going for it is the lack of looking like it was glued on. Maybe it's because the outer contour has nothing to do with the lines around the parking lights... or is it mounted lower than designed?

I'm a hustler sympathizer. I fully understand the struggle of trying to work on a car without being there or having the time. That's when the trouble happens, the mind wanders and the 'net fabbing begins. ;)

Zabac 08-08-2008 11:05 AM

DOOD make your own out of another cheap hood scoop and trim the inside of it off...nough said.

levnubhin 08-08-2008 11:10 AM

I wonder how well a cooper scooper would work in the bumper.

I think it would look better due to softer lines...i would just cut off the scooper part inside and paitn it black to look cleaner, voila, you are done.

but safe to say that the stock bumper and hood with the begi scooper are not going to get the job done on the track with a:
2" radiator
12" shroudless fans
undertray
shrouding on the front of the radiator
24-row oil cooler with a hold cut in the bumper to give it fresh air

...right?

Stop it, you're enabling him. It's our duty to shame him into actually working on his car.

you're shame does nothing for motivation. The $250 in track time $140 in hotel that I've already spent for 9/20 are my motivation.

Zabac 08-08-2008 12:00 PM

Why does a computer program need a hotel room? A $140 room at that!!!

Actually I'm liquid metal, and staying there for 2 nights. Skynet is picking up the tab. I have to go out there and meet up with Sarah Conner.

MX_Eva 08-08-2008 12:20 PM

Skynet! Oh Nose! I must send a reprogrammed T-101 (t-800? t-850??) back to save John Conner. ( Christian Bale?)

zomg...an idea that makes sense! Oh noes!

Concentrate on getting the car done and shaken down without overloading so many projects before your track day...I don't see why you want to rush a car into completion then throw it on the track all while praying its not going to explode.

I want to buy your old, stock hood.

Machismo 08-08-2008 01:50 PM

We will have to do some work to it......it is hanging on the wall now with Neon letters from a an old Carwash....C A R S has been screwed to it.
If you don't mind a few holes that need to addressed. Also had some DIY extractor vents at one point in time, removed them, and skinned old large holes with fiberglass matt and kitty hair.
If that doesn't bother you, then ummmmmm.......OK.
Let me know

never mind...but I'd love to meet up with you and make a couple metal splitters/undertrays.

Machismo 08-08-2008 02:25 PM

No worries, it would be more trouble than it was really worth. :)
Yep, I have a metal brake, and some fab skills that I don't mind lending out.
We will atleast have you at the track w/ some peace of mind, and with a car that is prolly going to be scarying the shit out of you. ;)
