The importance of tightening everything down.
So, ive learned a valuable lesson lately. Make sure everything is tight before driving. I lost the end off of my wastegate actuator rod as well as a o2 bung plug. Also, when the plug fell out of the bung, it started blowing exhaust on my LC-1 controller, therefore melting it and rendering it useless. I guess that gives me an excuse to dump my LC-1 and buy an aem uego. Anybody want to buy a lc-1 blue led gauge?

Haha. If it makes you feel better, last week I too learned a lesson about working on cars..
I replaced my PCV valve and a couple other little things, and afterward drove to work, and there was a terrible, terrible metal-on-metal tapping sound at idle and when engaging the clutch in 1st and 2nd. Drove me nuts for two whole days, I kept lifting the hood to check what it might be. Finally I found it over my lunch break - I had forgotten to retrieve my longest flat-bladed screwdriver when I dropped it on the passenger side and it was trapped handle-down and rapping on the mount cup. Eureka! I'm an idiot. |

I have left tools in the cowl area more times then I can count. |
Its especially important when it comes to lug nuts.

Ok, this is the "disclose your secret F-ups"...I swapped engines and hand tightened the two bottom nuts for the motor mounts. I guess the nuts fell off, then went two months without anything holding the engine to the subframe. Believe it or not, no strange noises or "thumps" from excessive motor movement!! The mounts guides were even in perfect position, all I had to do was find new nuts and washers...voila!

first time i turbo'ed my car,, well, first time ive ever touched a turbo
i didnt take out the breather hose, the one you put a little tiny air filter on, opposite to your pcv needless to say, i started the car up, rolled out, and proceeded to roll into boost, boosting my crank case and blowing my valve cover gasket and shooting my dip stick into my hood, making a nice thump..... i stopped the car, popped the hood, and went :eek5: followed by Attachment 213739 |
