Individual Spark with cops, lost tach signal

Please throw me a bone. I'm sure this has been discussed. I have not done a thorough search. It's been a long day. Work, gym, wiring individual spark with cops, and removing injector harness to prepare the wiring for sequential injection. I just came in from the garage.

I installed the COPs yesterday in batch fire, and I had a tach signal.

I wired the harness for individual spark, and now I don't have a tach signal at the dash. The car runs like a champ and the tunerstudio tach seems to work.

I also changed my tunerstudio spark setting from wasted spark to coil on plug.

I will continue to search in the meantime

You divided by zero. Fail.

Troubleshooting sucks. Pull tach signal from the tach output pin on the MS and win at life.
Not only does it add lenght and girth, but also saves mass because you can pull out the 5 extra ounces of wire and resistor from your cops harness that you no longer need. Adding lightness FTW

It's got to be fixable though. The only thing I changed is the trigger inputs. Batch to individual.

However, wiring straight to the diypnp would probably offer the most trouble free solution.

Yeah, the only explanation is a wiring error, and it was an error you didn't even need to make because the MS has a tach out pin.

I'll check my wiring. If I don't see anything obvious then I will use the tach output. It seems almost pointless at this point to have used the ignitor. I could have just wired everything straight from MS.

I swear I read a post recently that suggested wiring the tach signal wire to only one of the cops. I believe the reason was because that tach will get conflicting signals when run in individual spark mode if the tach signal wire is connected to all four cops. (Which is the case if they are running in wasted spark mode)

The tach needs to see one pulse per ignition event. If you're connected only to one coil, and running full sequential, the tach will indicate 1/4 of actual RPM.

When running wasted spark, you need only connect to one of the two coils in each pair. In practice, it should make no difference if you go ahead and connect to all four of 'em.

I thought the resistor was only if you didn't have a tach in the dash.

"1K resistor (Standalone ECU installs only - jump IG- to B+ in the diagnostics box if you have no tach in your gauge cluster)"

Or is this referring to no tach signal.

I did not use a 1k resistor. HAd tach with wasted spark, no tach with individual.

It appears that I fried one of my cops. Cyl number four. I'm pretty sure it happened when I was trying to start the car and I had the firing order mixed up. I thought I saw a little puff of smoke come from somewhere by the rear of the motor. Then I thought I was crazy.

Does turning the engine over with the firing order mixed up sound like something that could fry a cop? I want to make sure that I don't tear up another one.

On a positive note I got the sequential injection wired up and it ran the car on three cylinders.

It means "if the tach does not work, then install this resistor."

Damn near impossible to kill one simply by having the order wrong. Now, if the output driving it were on all the time, that'd do it.

Ignition settings

Here are my individual spark ignition settings and sequential injection settings

After the sight came back up today. I can't upload pictures. I will upload pic of settings as soon as I am able.

Ok, the uploading feature is working for me again.

Here are my ignition and injection settings. Do you see any problems with them?
