Installing AC on 95
 

Yup I know this seems a little backwards of what most people on mt.net do, but I'd like to install AC in my 95. I looked it up and theres several people on m.net that have installed AC onto a non-ac car.

Like the rest of the car, I'm assuming all the wiring is in there but unused. I just need all the AC parts, and the new knob with the ac button.

Has anyone on here installed ac and have any suggestions?

Does anyone have all the ac parts off of their 94-97 in excellent condition they want to sell me?

Disclaimer: Because I live in Texas, I have never seen a Miata that didn't come with AC from the dealer. I don't have any experience with adding AC to a non-AC miata.

All the wiring should be there.

Non-AC Miatas have an empty crossover box instead of an evaporator box. I'm sure someone who is thoroughly deleting their AC would be interested in your crossover box so they can eliminate the evaporator box without any leftover holes to plug.

90-97 evaporator coils and boxes are all the same. Expansion valves will be different between 90-93 and 94-97 systems though. R12 vs R134a.

If its easier to get a hold of, you can transplant an NB HVAC control panel into the NA. The cables line right up, just need to splice the electricals together.

Don't bother paying shipping for the Filter/Dryer. Buy a new one.

Replace all the seals with new ones. Flush all the parts but the compressor with AC system flush. I'd recommend buying a jug instead of an aerosol can. Dry thoroughly.

I'm currently running a 94-97 system in my 92. The swap was definitely worth it. My cooling capacity went from 'almost adequate' to 'adequate'.

I have an evaporator, box, and 'possibly defective but new' expansion valve I can sell you if you find an incomplete system lacking those parts.
