Installing Cruise Control
This is kind of a side project that I may want to tackle. But before buying the parts and pieces I kind of want to make sure I have everything right in my mind.
My car has no wiring at all for cruise control, but I don't think it would be very hard to wire the actual wires. The things that I am not sure about are items like; -is there a switch on the clutch pedal -is there any type of switch on the transmission (both of those would disable the cruise if you either depress the pedal, or take the car out of gear.) -I know I will need the main on/off switch, the cruise control specific stalks (which I would assume they shouldn't be too hard to change) the cable to the throttle body, and the actual diaphragm. Is there anything else that I am forgetting or don't know about? That is really the only thing I wish my car had from the factory. Are there any relays or anything that would impede this for going smoothly? |
- there is a switch on the clutch and brake pedal. both should deactivate cruise when pedal is operated.
- no transmission switch, you can pop it out of gear and it will rev funny lol. - the main on/off switch and accel/decel/set/resume switches can be wired to any old momentary switches. the wiring is pretty low skill level if you get a diagram its as simply as just opening or closing circuits to get the effect. I think it would be much more user-friendly to have a switchboard or button panel than using the stalk... but i'm too lazy to modify my pre-existing OEM setup lol |
