Installing an exhaust cam shaft

I have change out a timing belt before but I have never replaced a cam shaft. Anyone have some tips/tricks for me?

there is nothing to it. start removing the caps on the inside and move outside, removing hardware in 2 or 3 stages. same thing when installing them again. your shop manual has all the tq specs and such.

Make sure you put the caps back where they were originally from. You'll probably have to break the caps loose by putting the screwdriver in the bolt holes and tapping the screw driver with a rubber mallet to break them loose (I think it's called "oil seal", either way, they don't always pop right off).

Breaking the cam caps is pretty tough, the oil seals it extremely well. I tapped mine with a rubber mallet back and forth until I could wiggle it of. That's the hardest part of it all.

Check the tq spec carefully on the bolts for the caps. It is veeeery low and they do break. How do I know this? :bang:
