ISO a swap checklist
 

Right, so hi all. It's been awhile, I've been busy.

Anyway, I'm swapping my 95 engine from the miata that had a run in with the tractor trailer into my 96 that is getting tired. I'm looking for a checklist of shit to remove and then rehook. I'm sure I could take pics and plan and be organized, but where's the fun in that? I need a checklist that I can ignore half way through the procedure and then wing it and come back with questions of why my car won't start.

just remove one motor/tranny and slide in another and reaplly all the 96 electronics and you are done. These cars realy arent that complicated. Your header is different, the intake is different, the harmonic balancer has an extra bracket for crank position sensor and that is most of the changes you need to look out for.

Hmm, maybe I should make a new thread:

If you were going to do a light rebuild (rods and little else) which motor would you prefer to use 95 or 96?

If this gets responses in here, I'll leave it alone, otherwise I'll make a new thread.

Nevermind, looking at that list, it doesn't look like anything would really matter.
